Listening to Julie Brackenbury’s background, you’d never guess she’d be a salon and spa owner. She first graduated with an Interior Design degree from The Art Institute of Portland.  Later, she went to school for Engineering – and while she was there – became interested in cosmetic formulations, acids & preservatives.

After a year of Engineering school, Julie dropped out to go into the cosmetics field where she developed her own line of cosmetics. During this time, Julie also purchased her own spa which she has been running ever since. During her college years, Julie had worked for a chain of medical spas, where she had experienced managing a staff of sometimes up to 50. The experience she had there, gave her the knowledge she needed and a thirst for business.

In 2013, Julie opened Sunrise Salon Spas. “At first, it was difficult. I had to build a staff, build a clientele base, and make sure things are up to standard,” explained Julie. “I wanted to build it to a point where everything was at the highest service level possible.” But Julie isn’t just a salon and spa owner. She’s also an entrepreneur, with her own skincare line (Fountain of Youth Skincare), which has a large user base. Julie frequents many trade shows around America, selling her skincare products and her own personal brand. The line boasting products such as lip scrubs, body creams, moisturizers, serums, cleansers, and toners.

“A lot of spas could be gaining a lot by using something like Genbook”

Before switching to Genbook, Julie used a generic piece of software for her scheduling. It was an old-school sort of software, which even required a CD for installation! As the software wasn’t online, but instead was something they could access from their desktop, Julie was spending time each day doing confirmation calls. “I think we spent at least 45 minutes per day doing confirmation calls. And once a week, we would call clients to ask how their experience was, which tacked on another hour of time,” said Julie. With the addition of Genbook, that time spent on the phone has been eliminated. It’s not a surprise, seeing as a recent Genbook survey found that 66% of Genbookers surveyed said that Genbook saved them time.

Julie’s favorite feature? “I really like the verified customer reviews being displayed on my website. I feel Genbook has made it possible for business owners to feel better knowing they don’t need to rely heavily on Yelp reviews, for example, or other review destinations. Instead, we have all of our verified reviews in one place and customers can trust they are verified and accurate. A lot of spas could be gaining a lot by using something like Genbook.”

Did you know, 33% of our Genbookers say that Genbook gives them more clients? And 100% of them say that online scheduling is important to their business! Sign up to our online scheduling software to save time for the things you’d rather be doing. Enjoy our free 30-day trial today.
