Thankfully, There's Arturo.
Alexander Kermani - Dec 2, 2016
I was completely ignored by my advisor. This is not hyperbole. After several emails starting on the 17 of last month and probably 30 or 40 phone calls, I've literally not gotten a single phone call or email back. Not a single one. Zero stars for her. Arturo, of his own volition and as a very busy man, stepped up. I can't exaggerate his virtues, and I would not have been enrolled this semester without him. Absolutely always a pleasure to talk to, and maybe the most helpful person at any school.

mediocre communication but good teaching methods. advisors give bad advice sometimes- they say one thing that ends up being not true or tries to talk you out of a decision...
General Advising is great
J.C. - Oct 29, 2016
I was expecting many of my questions to require some research through internal documents or something, but even when I referenced arbitrary courses by their course numbers, my advisor immediately knew what I was talking about. She had like superhuman memory and speed. Come in knowing exactly what you want to ask, and you'll walk out quickly and happy
GENERAL REVIEW OF THE SCHOOL
Aakash Gadh - Oct 27, 2016
ECS is probably the best school at UTD with lots of learned and helpful faculty, achieving students and to top it all, an accompdating atmosphere. ECS is no doubt, going to be the best Engineering School of the coming century!
Change of Major
Elizabeth B - Oct 26, 2016
Approximately 80 percent of college students change their major. At UT Dallas, changing majors is easy and the advisors are extremely helpful. My ECS 1100 teacher actually brought me the forms I needed during class, so I had to do to switch majors was fill out a form. It gets trickier if you are more advanced in your academic career, but it is still very manageable, and the advisers will help you every step of the way. Also, there are tons of other resources, and the professors are dedicated.
