After my second visit with Dr. Ray, I'm happy to report that his knowledge and expertise left me feeling grateful to have access to this level of podiatry. I'm an avid hiker, and keeping my feet in top notch shape is very important. Dr. Ray modified my shoes, allowing me to hike without cumbersome orthotics, and gave me lots of advice to keep my feet happy and healthy.

Everything about Dr. McClanahan's office impressed me. The staff was friendly and helpful. The doctor spent plenty of time with me, explaining why his approach is so different from my previous podiatrist. That was a welcome change. Great approach to healthy feet. Was facing the prospect of orthodotics from traditional podiatrist, but have found dr. ray and staff intent on educating on proper foot structure and how to re-train the body. This strategy not only makes sense, it has helped me continue to run, be active and heal the feet from bursitis and fasciosis. Highly recommended.

I have now been to NW Foot and Ankle for 2 different foot issues. First one is my bunyons - -I was starting to have limited mobility and pain. Dr Ray gave me a course of treatment (no surgery) and my mobility is much better now and the pain is pretty much gone. Just went for another area of foot pain during running -- he did a modification to my shoe and from the run I did on Sunday, I think he got it! He is super thorough and really understands what is going on with your foot.

I often see patients with "mysterous" pain that nobody else has been able to explain or resolve. I love being able to help them, but I had a mystery of my own... Dr. McClanahan figured out that my non-healing "stress fracture" (diagnosed by another doc) was actually a sesamoid tracking problem. His exam was gentle but thorough, and his explanations made perfect sense. I'm feeling confident that I will be healed up soon! The rest of the staff was great, too. :)

Fortunately, I found that shoes were my lifelong problem and I hope to find some that will accommodate my new stance. I am thanking my lucky stars that I have in my health corner for severe bunions and leg pain. These guys know feet! I was told by my regular doc that I had a stress fracture and to not run for 6 weeks. After being told I needed surgery on digits of both feet, I was thrilled to find another alternative. Dr. McClanahan was friendly, down to earth and informative. Wow! I was blown away by the level of professionalism, customer service, knowledge and experience of Dr Ray and his staff. Dr Ray spent almost an hour with me on the phone during our consultation and took the time to answer all of my questions. Never once did he seem rushed. If you are looking for a great podiatrist and do not live in Portland, I highly recommend setting up a phone consultation with Dr Ray. He's the only podiatrist I've found that 'gets it'

I found Dr. McClanahan to be very competent and thorough in his evaluation and treatment recommendations. He is on the cutting edge in his field, particularly for athletic and active individuals. His philosophy may seem a bit radical to some but is grounded in sound anatomy and physiology. I believe that if you have faith in his plan and follow it you will get results!

Dr. Ray McClanahan is one of the few doctors I've ever seen who fully listens AND fully responds to YOUR experience of symptoms and lifestyle. He starts with where you are (pretty important when asking you to change over your shoe wardrobe and hem all your pants!); he communicates very clearly; and does not patronize you or skimp on information. Finally, he has a killer bedside manner--he's so caring!

There is a difference between a health care provider and a healer. Dr McClanahan is both ! He is very attentive to detail, unhurried in his approach, thorough, and best of all he gets results ! Before meeting him i was certain i would need surgical intervention to correct my foot issues, but his treatment plan is working and my foot is now almost completely free of pain. For the first time in my life, I have a podiatrist who understands how feet actually work and DOESN'T think I'm certifiable because I like going barefoot! Dr. McClanahan made some relatively small changes to running shoes, added metatarsal pads, and suggested I begin using Correct Toes, which I have done. I was concerned I had hurt my foot while running and that the thing I was gonna hear was to stop running for a while. It was quite the opposite. I was encouraged to start running sooner rather than later. I was given a thourough exam, an adjustment, and asked many questions to which I got great answers. Dr. Maclanahan listened very well and knows his stuff! I also really like the fact that he too is a bare foot runner supporter. He was able to give me more specific advice because of this.
