We began our Gettysburg visit at the studio and had our picture taken. They both took such a personal interest in making sure we looked great and the digital photo turned out like it was taken during the Civil War. These two are real professionals! She took one photo and that was it...perfect! The information they gave us also helped us on our way to the rest of our visit.

This was an awesome experience. The photographer gave us a thorough background of the apparel that was worn in the 1860s and assisted us in "dressing up". She then explained the process of "wet plate" to us and posed us appropriately. After seeing the finished product, I would have thought that the photo was taken 150 years ago. We were impressed. I recommend that if anyone wants a "realistic" looking vintage photo, this is the place to go.

The pictures turned out awesome and authentic. My husband was dresded as a union officer and my father was dressed as a confederate officer. My mom and I were dressed in beautiful dresses. The photographer was great and the helper was great too. :-) I definitely recommend going here... The prices were reasonable and the experience and photo was something we are so glad we did.

My husband and I did this with our daughter and three boys. Not only did we have a blast getting dressed up in period costumes, but we got a fun history lesson thrown into the mix. Owners couldn't have been nicer and our pictures were awesome! Definitely make time to do this on your trip to Gettysburg! And make an appointment to do it before your battlefield tour so you don't risk running foul with the weather and getting sweaty, wet, or wind-blown.

My husband and I had our anniversary photo taken here, and enjoyed our session very much! The owners are very friendly and knowledgable, they made us feel very comfortable and explained a lot of interesting history during our session. Photo prices are extremely reasonable considering the amount of time and preparation it takes! I would highly recommend them, and when we go back to Gettysburg we definitely plan on having our photo done again!

We started doing period pictures with our grandchildren about 3 years ago. This time, with our 6-year-old, we weren't sure it was going to work. I should have known better! Tish was absolutely great. She dressed him in period perfect clothes and charmed him into posing for 3 super shots. It was a terrific experience - one he's still talking about.

Came in as strangers, left feeling like friends. The staff was great. We had digitalis done on a Sat. Liked them so well we made reservations for Sunday to have wet plates done. ( tin type) we couldn't be happier. They came out great and we got a history lesson on how the wet plate camera works and got to watch as they were developed. We will be back again...

We had a blast making the photo. The staff is great to work with and a lot of fun. They have great ideas to make a memorable photo. I would do it again in a heart beat. My wife was surprised how the photo looked really old and historic. You have to do this if you are in Gettysburg!

My husband and I made reservations with Victorian Photography Studio for a recent trip to Gettysburg. The owners were very friendly and helpful. My husband dressed as a civil war general and I was as a fancy lady at a ball. The picture came out great and we had an awesome time! I definitely recommend doing this if you're planning a trip to Gettysburg. We were only there for about a half hour, so it doesnt take alot of time.

We went on an April Saturday with a reservation for 5 - 4 adults and 1 child. The owners were very friendly and we picked the digital option. The picture turned out great and we had a nice time. Only suggestions would be a bit more dialogue in outfit choice and more than 1 image to select from. These are hindsight thoughts to improve a great experience.

We came on a Thursday after touring the battlefields to have a civil war photo done. Two adults and two teenagers. We all really enjoyed picking out our costumes and accessories. It taught us more about this period in history. We do a lot of "Old time photos" and I have never had someone do our hair and pay attention to every detail. Best momento of our trip.

We chose to do it the day before my son 1st birthday. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about period and the portrait turned out great. We made this our last stop for our road trip, and what an experience it was! The owners were really friendly and have a unique sense of humor! The photoshoot was casual and the owners shared details of the costumes with us. The photoshoot was quick and prompt. The quality of the photo was magnificent and it was THE perfect memento of my road trip. Driving 5 hours into Gettysburg was definitely worth it! I would definitely go back with my family one day for another photoshoot if given the chance!

My daughter and I just had wet plate photos taken of us at the studio, and found the experience to be very satisfying. The proprietors were very friendly and informative, the process went smoothly and professionally, and the photos turned out very well. This was the second sitting there I'd been at - we had my son and his girlfriend photographed about a year ago. The experience then was just as positive. I have no hesitation in recommending the studio.

Absolutely stunning work! My boyfriend and I have gotten two wet plates done and both times they came out wonderful. The first time was tough because my eyes are too light to show up without looking like a ghost, but the second time they found the sweet spot and they came out perfect! Del and his wife are both incredibly kind and welcoming, willing to answer any question, and make you feel extremely comfortable.

So glad I got to do this ! Del and Tish were nothing short of amazing, funny, welcoming people. I enjoyed being able to choose what kind of theme/customes we wanted for the picture. Great experience. We had two small children with us (ages 4 and 11 months) and the process went so smoothly. Photo turned out great....I keep looking at it shocked that it's actually us! We did the digital picture but would love to try the wet plate in the future (when the kids are old enough to sit still). Will recommend this studio to family and friends when they visit Gettysburg.

The owners are knowledgeable, passionate, and provide a fun experience where you can experience first hand the clothing style of the Civil War era. It was very enjoyable, interesting, and they accommodated us even though we were the only ones scheduled that day! We did digital photos but after seeing the wetplate photos in the binder I wish I had done that! Truly something worth doing and you get amazing photos to remember it!

Had so much fun wearing my wedding dress again for our one year anniversary. My husband dressed up as a general with a sword. The picture is our favorite souvenir, and anniversary present to ourselves. The process is so fascinating to watch your picture develop on tin type is so cool. They still do it the same way as in the 1860s. This will be treasured for years to come. The owners were very nice and helpful. Highly recommend.

Everything about the photo shoot is fun. The owner's are great people. We only got the digital package but in retrospective we should of got the wet plate done. When I made a reservation for the photo shoot I wasn't exactly sure if the wet plate would be worth it. After seeing one in the shop I wished I would of got the wet plate done. The digital came out really nice but the wet plate can't be beat for the "authentic" experience. Any one who is not sure which one to get, get the wet plate.

My best friend and I decided to have digital prints made up on a trip to Gettysburg. We had a wonderful time - not only do we now have these amazing photographs (amazing because of the photography as well as the detail in the costumes), but we learned about victorian clothing and customs. Overall, it one of the best experiences Gettysburg has to offer. We are planning on going back soon!

We recently had our third wet plate photo taken here. From the minute you walk in the door, it is not just about the photo--it is an EXPERIENCE. Both Del and Tish are exceptional in explaining everything from the clothing and accessories/accoutrements to the poses and the the photographic chemistry. If you are looking for a Hollywood "wannabe Victorian" photo, move on to another shop, because Victorian Photography Studio is the real McCoy. You will not be disappointed.

Not only are Tish and Del among the friendliest people in G-burg, they KNOW customer service, and went out of their way to accommodate our photo session. From the attention to detail in costuming, to their explanation of the wet plate process, Tish/Del made it more than just a photo session...it was an educational experience. Tish even helped us select an authentic period frame at a fair price, which is assuredly NOT an amenity at the other photographers. Look forward to our next visit!

Our final stop Gettysburg before heading home after an amazing weekend! This was definitely a highlight for our children and for all of us. Our wet plate tin turned out great and it was neat to actually experience a bit of history in the dressing and posing for our photo. Be sure to visit this place and spend the extra dollars for wet plate. The results are worth every penny!!! Also, the owners are friendly and warm...very professional.

My wife and I had a image taken as a birthday gift for me. Not only did our image turn out great, but Tish and Del were also the nicest of people, and they even made a single image of my wife that fit into my pocket watch for no charge. Also if you are a lady ask Tish about the hair "rats". My wife, a non history buff, hasn' t stopped wearing hers since. I highly recommend there studio to anyone visiting Gettysburg.

This was an awesome experience, I'm so glad my boyfriend and I did it. We really had no idea what we were getting into, but Tish was so nice and helped us with everything from the clothes to doing my hair. Del explained and showed us how the wet plate process worked. We got a great souvenir of our Gettysburg trip at a great value. I recommend that everyone who goes to Gettysburg stops in to get at least one picture done. It's totally worth it!

I kept our appointment a secret from my 12 year-old son, thinking it wouldn't be a "cool" activity for him. When we arrived, Tish was so entertaining and friendly, he was swept away and dressed as a young soldier before he could think about it. The staff that dressed us was very knowledgeable about the civil war period & made the dressing-up process fun even for my son. He was more excited about the guns he used as props & I was pleased with how pretty the dress was & also how my hair turned out! Our group of 8 had a fantastic time. My 83 year old grandfather was unable to walk up the stairs so he didn't join in on the large group photo. However, with a little convincing he was willing to dress up and take a photo downstairs. We were in town for a wedding and he showed everybody (even the photographers at the wedding!) the photo that was taken of him. I highly suggest having your photo taken if you're going to be in Gettysburg!!

I could not believe how well the photograph turned out. It truly looks as if it were taken during the Civil War. The staff was also very friendly and explained the whole tin-type process as we went through the photo shoot. I really suggest the tin type process when you go. It just felt so much more authentic, and the effects it produces are amazing, especially for anyone with blue eyes.

My boyfriend and I had our picture taken here on July 4th. I brought my own Steampunk outfit & my boyfriend dressed as a Union General. Corey took our photo, since he is REALLY into steampunk. He came up with a good pose that combined the 2 genre. Everyone who has seen the picture thinks it is a very cute picture of us. Quite a few people have commented that the original, a wet-plate on tin, looks like an old photo from the 1800's. I would highly recommend Victorian Photography Studio!

Not only did they help us pick and dress in the best outfits for us, but they re-created a sitting from that era and the end results were amazing. The picture really does look like it was taken during the civil war. The one thing that stood out the most is how the made us feel like we were old friends. For this sitting I aimed to reproduce a period image of an Ohio soldier. Del was super accommodating and patient in helping me to get all details of the image we could get, as close as possible. The result was a super image in my opinion that I was incredibly pleased with the finished product and feel that we were able to come just about as close as possible to recreating the original image. Myself, my husband, our 11 yr son and 9 yr daughter had a family portrait done by the wet plate method (and bought the digital version so we can make Christmas cards). We had a great time not only playing dress-up, but learning about the process as well. Tish, Corey, and Del were all fabulous and made my quintessential JEB Stuart picture a reality. Booking this photo shoot was really easy. When I decided to make a change to my reservation, they made it easy to do by phone. I arrived at the shop and was greeted by a young man in period clothing. I did all the paperwork and payments first. He did a great job helping me pick out the perfect uniform and accessories. I decided to get a wet plate done, so they spent time explaining the history of the process, and each step as they went along. The whole thing only took 30 minutes.

We really enjoyed our time with the Victorian Photography Studio. They are busy, so I recommend a reservation. I was surprised at how much I learned! They fill some of the downtime with a brief history lesson on it, explain how it works and why the "tin-types" look the way they do. My wife LOVED getting dressed up. The tin itself is truly breathtaking! Fun, educational, & sentimental in a good way. The owners took the time to get to know us so we would be more comfortable for the "pose time".

We setup an appointment the night before as we saw how busy they were from our porch at the Dobbin House. We arrived 5 minutes before, it was myself, my wife, and our 3 daughters. The girls we all dressed and ready in about 15-20 minutes. Our middle daughter blinked on the first picture and so we took one more. It turned out perfect, we could no be happier and plan to visit again next year to get a wet plate portrait taken. We WILL be back!

This was such an amazing experience. My father and I went on a history trip to Gettysburg in which we decided to try the Victorian Photography Studio. It was great even before I arrived! I had booked the last sitting of the day, certain that I would be in Gettysburg at least an hour before. Wrong! Stuck in traffic, I called to say I would be 15 minutes late & was told not to worry; that would fine under the circumstance. I got there & the owners couldn't have been nicer - from their kind manner to their helpful advice on what period garb best suited me to helping me dress & pose - until I walked out the door with a great portrait. Unforgettable experience! I was visiting Gettysburg for the 5th time & this trip was for my birthday. Initally my sister & I booked a digital shoot & before we knew it I booked a second shoot for the day of my birthday for a wet plate. When we came back Tish & Del had decorated the studio for my birthday! WOW! Talk about two genuine people! Both our shoots were filled with great historical tidbits & our photos turned out AMAZING. My wife and I stopped in to have a wet-plate photo taken for our anniversary. We chose Victorian because the seem to be the only one's in the Gettysburg offering this. The whole experience was great! They dressed us up, explained how the process worked, answered all our questions. The resulting photo is so cool. I can't wait for someone to see it in our house and ask "is that your relative?" They are very busy in the fall. We went October 2011 and had a great experience! The staff was great and we had so much fun. This is a must do activity in Gettysburg but you have to plan ahead.

The people at the studio thought we were crazy for attempting a tin-wet photo of the family. We were dressed in wonderful outfits and everyone went out of their way to be sure all the little details of our outfits were authentic and looked awesome. All we had to do was stand really still. The picture came out great and the girls earned bragging rights for standing still for 30 seconds. They loved this outing and stated that it was the highlight of the trip.

Traveling to Gettysburg for the first time with two teenagers in tow isn't always an easy task. We thought a civil war portrait of the family would be a fun and worthwhile thing. Then came the sideways glances of the teens. Imagine being shown, in detail, how the 19th century pictures were taken, developed, and produced, all being explained by a couple who obviously enjoy their craft. This was truly an enjoyable time. And, I was finally able to be a three-star general -- in my dreams, and with proof.

We had an absolutely wonderful time with Victorian Photography. Their staff was not only knowledgeable about photography, but knew tons about the history of each costume piece, so that, for example, my 27-year-old fiancee didn't end up wearing a dress that was more appropriate for teens of the era. I was even given multiple choices of rank and division with the military uniform options. Also very quick and efficient. True professionals.

We were just married and chose this studio's wet plate offering to be our sole "official" wedding photo. The photography team were very knowledgeable about the wet plate process and took us through the photographing and developing processes, AND were also knowledgeable about the conventions of studio photography of the period. This was the highlight of our weekend in town.Took the wife and daughter camping for thier first time and it rained all weekend. without this high point the whole trip would have been a washout. we have always gone to the shore to get the "old tyme photos" done. we will definently be coming back for more photos. even though we had an appointment they had a barrage of walkins when we where there. Transform yourself and step back in time with Victorian Photography Studio. I brought my youth group while on our mission trip to have our photo taken, the girls were transformed into sophisticated young women who took your breath away and the young men were stunning in their uniforms. We had our photo taken over a month ago and my students still talk about the wonderful time they had that day, & their wishs that they could have taken their costumes home. We had a great time! Our 5 year old thought it was a blast - and so did we! It's hard to please various age groups - but they most certainly did!! We saw large groups and small ones while we waited (it was 100 degrees out so we were early - to get out of the heat)! All left happy and all said that we would enjoy ourselves - they were so right! When in the area, we will definitely return! The number of outfits they have is amazing!

Our family had such a great time at the studio. It was really fun to wear the clothes! The owners were so friendly and sweet. They helped us feel comfortable. My 16 year old son was somewhat reluctant beforehand, but he thoroughly enjoyed wearing the Confederate uniform as much as my two teen-aged daughters enjoyed wearing their gowns. Now we have these beautiful photos as mementos. We are so happy we did this together! Also, make an appt so you don't miss out if they are full!! Loved it!!!

My girlfriend and I enjoyed the whole experience. We learned a lot of unique history regarding Civil War Era dress codes even in just the 30 minutes we had at the studio. Tish and her husband are extremely dedicated to what they do, and the finished product is top-notch. I highly recommend this experience. Fun, Fun, Fun!!!! The three of us had a wonderful time dressing up in the costumes. Not only was picking out our dresses and accessories fun, we also received a history lesson regarding fashion and garments from Tish. I must say I was hesitant to let them mess with my hair at first (I wanted to wear it down), but after she did my cousins, I wanted her to do mine too! Part of the fun is letting the photographers assist with making the picture look authentic... they know what they're doing!

What a nice experience we had! Tish took a great deal of time dressing us, explaining ways of dressing & fashions of the time as well as explaining the etiquette & symbolism of Civil War photography. She even did Lisa's hair up in a fashionable "do" Meantime Del was transforming my 2 grandsons into soldiers.
