    first impressions

    I needed to a fresh, new start with my hair. I was ready for my big chop, a little apprehensive about the change (to be honest) but much needed. My stylist Fateemah was the greatest. She was kind, friendly and really knowledgeable. I will definitely be going back for future services.

    First Time

    By human nature we always choose convenience or least expensive, but in reality we need to choose what's best for us. I was not only greatly serviced but greeted as I entered and professionalism matters to me. Warm, friendly and extremely clean. My stylist Tonya is much more than a stylist. She's a therapist. I went it looking and feeling awful. I left, not only looking natural, clean, curly but educated. I will treasure and share my UFD's hair experience with others.

    2nd Visit to Uncle Funky's

    I call it a visit and not an appointment because the time spent there was like visitng with old friends, family or sisters. I was promptly taken for my appointment and thoroughly enjoyed the entire process. I just wish I could make those curls happen in my hair like Tonya's magic hands. I think she takes more time than I do to apply the product. Cant wait for my next visit.

    Best Two-Strand Twist ever!

    This was my first time getting two-strand twists at Uncle Funky's Daughter. I am so pleased with how my style turned out! The products are great and paraben free! It was so nice to wake up the next morning without grease stains on my pillowcase & an oily face.

    Great Service!

    This Salon is Outta Sight!!!

    I truly enjoyed my visit to UFD. Both Tonya and Fateemah, are some "cool cats'. Tonya cut and styled my hair, which turned out gorgeous. The atmosphere of both the salon and clothing store were great. I'm loving my new cut and the products that I purchased. Thank you ladies for making a lady from Orange, Texas feel so special.     pleasantly suprised

    My visit to uncle funky's daughter was pleasant but short. I didnt know what to expect in a consultation but I know that I did expect for it to be a little longer than it was. I must say that i do enjoy the products and will continue usage but I do think the consultation price was a little steep for what I was serviced.

    Great atmosphere and great service

    This is the place to go! I got there a little early, which they greatly appreciated, and were prompt to get me in the chair. The atmosphere and service were great, which really made everything go by so quickly. The loctician really knew her stuff and offered me great advice that I was glad to receive. Great experience from beginning to end.

    Excellent Service, Excellent Products

    My visit was very informative, Ms. Tonya's consult was to the point and her product info was extremely helpful, my natural hair has never liked better!!! I have officially said goodbye to braids and abusing my hair, went home and immediately threw away all of the other products that have been killing my hair and I will be fully dedicated to the UNCLE FUNKYS DAUGHTER product line

    I was 7days into wearing my hair natural when I made my appointment with Uncle Funky's Fateemah. I immediately felt very calm and peaceful in the salon.     Wonderful

    My appointment experience with Fateemah on this past Friday was a pleasant one. She shaped my style, explain the type of hair I had, explained the right products and was extremely patient with me. :-) (I was concerned about how my "little" twist would look).     I absolutely loved my service and overall experience at the salon. Fateemah was very professional.     Very Patient

    I'm six years old and this was the first time I had been to a salon for my hair. The owner was nice and patient with me because I don't like my hair combed. She told my mom which products to use for our entire family. It smells good.

    Awesome Experience, Personable and Knowledgable

    I am so glad my friend told me about the salon. I was greeted as soon by my name. The atmosphere was calm, casual AND professional. Fateemah and Tonya were both so friendly and honest (not just trying to sell product). They answered all of my questions and didn't rush me. I'm taking my daughter in and I told of my girlfriends about my visit. My daughter wanted to know how come she hadn't met Uncle Funky!:)

    LOVED IT!

    The easiest thing I can say is that I loved my first experience and I will def be coming back for trims. I have already recommended the place to 3 other friends. I also bought the products suggested by Tonya and my hair has improved 100%. I didn't have a lot of experience with natural hair maintenance and this place has been a life changer for me. I also received so many compliments already! The owners and other beautician are all extremely nice and attentive as well!

    Excellent business

    Went in for a cut, was a bit nervous due to hair damage over the years. Tonya gave me a cut that suit my features and brought out the versatility of my hair. It's a lot shorter, but I can now do styles I couldn't do previously. Thanks UFD!

    First Experience with Uncle Funky's Daughter

    I arrived with many questions and some sense of uncertainty. My hair had two inches of new growth and about eight to ten inches of relaxed hair. The relaxed hair was removed. To my surprise I was actually okay with my new look. I love my new low maintenace hair style and plan to grow my hair a little longer, but maintain a shorter style. Thanks for the experience and answers to my questions.

    Trust No One Else ....

    I love Uncle Funky's. My first time there was in 2008 when my locs were shorter. After leaving the area and coming back, there's no other salon I trust with my locs. Yes, I tried one other place in Houston - there's no comparison. From their products and service to their in-depth knowledge about hair, Uncle Funky's is second to none!

    1st step to healthy hair.

    So, I've been married to the flat iron for sometime now. However, with the need to make healthy changes I wanted to flaunt my hair in its natural state.Through google and word of mouth I decided to visit Uncle Funky's Daughter! and what a delightful experience it was.The staff is very professional and down to earth!!! Ready to answer questions and address concerns as going natural can be a challenging experience. The salon is also very nice and clean so with that said my hair is happy :D

    Wonderful Salon Experience w/ Fateemah

    Natural for 5yrs but wore sew-ins for convenience until recently.I was greeted by friendly staff upon arrival & ushered into a clean salon(No curly Qs on floor!) Fateemah was very knowledgeable about natural hair texture/maintenance & suggested products for MY curl pattern to help moisturize,strength & grow my damaged hair.I was disappointed that the $65 trim didn't include a style & Richee Rich, a suggested product, was out-of-stock indefinitely. Will return for trim & possibly other services.

    My appointment started on time and Fatima was great in shaping my hair. The previous cut I was given was not great. Fatima instantly recognized what was wrong. She and Tonyaa were wonderful.

    Love my hair

    Great Customer Service, Clean Salon and my hair is wonderful. I'm so please with the outcomes; my hair texture is between a 4b &4c. Having nice curly hair with chemicals is beautiful! Fateemah gave me a nice cut & Tonya pushed me out of my comfort zone and added color, which is really cute. The Curly Magic and Mid-nite Train are awesome products.     After searching for natural hair stylist for my trip to Houston, I came across UFD! I will admit the name alone made me curious to see what it was about. I read several reviews on Google & decided that I would try to get an appt.     One comfortable atmosphere

    I have been wearing my natural hair for 5 months and never had it properly trimmed, I never knew the difference of what product to use when washing my hair or moisturizing till I went to UFD. I truly thank you Tonya. it has been a week since I had my hair done and using UFD products my hair still is soft and has moisture.

    I went to the salon for the first time with flat iron damage an reluctantly agreed to a cut tht would as Tanya said free me and my curls an was amazed by the results, I love love love the products an my new short curly hair thanks to all the ladies there an I will most def be bak!!!!

    Great service! Awesome help!

    When you haven't been natural in 23 years you have no idea how to manage natural hair. At UFD the service was awesome, there was no pressure and to be taught step by step how to manage, and what products is best was great. I know now what do to do for the look I want!

    Could not be happier

    Went in for a consult for the Freedom Cut and was able to get it right after. There are no words to express how happy I am that I got the cut. I was very nervous but Tonya nd her husband talked me through all the nerves. Tonya is truly great at her profession and so easy to talk to. It is true what everyone says, they really make you feel at home. I will definetly be a customer for life.

    Curly Hair Cuts

    I give this place 10 gold star if it was possible. This is the only place to have your natural done up right. Everyone from the staff to all the customer are so very nice and friendly. Everyone is to knowledgeable in all the products. If you have not been there before go and see what's it all about, you won't be disappoint. I love the place and you will too.

    I found her!

    I've been natural 4 years. I am completely happy with what Fatima did with my hair. I got a barber to cut my hair a few weeks ago to a TWA and it was not as good as it should have been. She fixed it and made me look AWESOME. She is my go to gal!

    I had a great experience at Uncle Funky's Daughter . I came for a consultation that lasted less than 10 minutes which was great . Then a hour later I came back and got my Freedom Cut . My stylist did a great job cutting & shaping my hair . Everything was professional . I love my new hair cut !

    Good experience

    The shop was very clean and organized. I spent more than I wanted to paying ahead for my next appointment but I trust that my hair would look great. Very knowledgeable about natural hair, fast and courteous. Nice clothes in the boutique and it was not to pricey. Definitely will go back!!!

    Nothing in the World Naturally Better......

    Where to begin, I have been a patron of UFD for nearly seven years. From day one the service and more importantly the personal touches were on point. The front of the house is overseen by a smile and knowledgable staff. The back of the house (the salon) is where the magic happens. Never disappointment. If you are not accustomed to elite, upscale service and atmosphere, please don't waste your time or that of these wonderful folk with you foolishness.

    My Second Big Chop

    Tonya is awesome and very knowledgeable! I was able to go in and get personalized service. This is my second big chop - I've been getting my hair pressed so much that Tonya said there was a lot of heat damage. So now I have my real natural curls and am using UFD products. I was nervous (not because of the salon but just cutting my hair in general) but it turned out really good. So now just going a couple of months to see how long it gets!

    Love my twists!!

    I visited Uncle Funky's Daughter for the first time and was serviced on time with very little wait. Salkis was my stylist and I am a long term transitioned @ 8 months. She was able so pleasant and my hair came out fabulous. Although she is moving to California, i will definitely be returning for another appointment.

    Great haircut

    I've been a customer for a long time but Tuesday was my first time getting my hair styled. Tonya gave me a Curly Diva haircut which was very nice.     First time but not my last!

    I LOVE love love love love love...did I say love? Uncle Funky's Daughter. I have never been to a salon since i went natural and the stylists were so experienced and so kind and friendly. I felt like i was at home. Definitely worth the money. I will definitely be back in the future. I highly recommend anyone who wants they're hair styled to come to Uncle Funky's! :-)

    I am a Diva again

    Well I work overseas and the water is hard and putting a relaxer is out of the question and doing brais was getting old. So decided to go back to old school with STYLE. The shop is great and Tonya was great. I came in for consult and made my appointment and I loaded up on the products. I feel that when I go back without braids and looking so cute that my Mr. Almost Right will find me. Thank you guys so much.

    Great Service!

    I love the fact that everything was done so quickly and easily. I spent all of 30-40 minutes there and my hair was looking fabulous. Everyone said so and wanted to know who did my hair. I was even able to refer some other women who were contemplating going natural to Uncle Funky"s Daughter. It defenitely unique, professional, convenient, well-organized, clean cosmotology businesses in town with excellent skills in making any head of hair fiercely beautiful!

    I've always enjoyed going to UFD, but I love it even more since I can make appointments online now. It is very convenient and easy. I love the professionalism and cleanliness of the salon, as well as being able to get in and out without wasting my whole day like in other salons.

    Best salon experience I have ever had!

    I met with Tonya for a consultation and later recieved a hair cut and advise on how to care for my newly natural hair. I am extremely pleased. The salon and staff are first class.     Service

    I met with Tony for counseling and later appointment. Service was fantastic on both occasions. Store clean, staff professional and Tony, well was awsome. She explained at home care I should follow in detail. Great experience and great products. Can't wake for next 6 weeks when I will return for coloring. Didn't take evenly but it was my fault. I used "bijon black". Thanks again!

    went to get color put in my locs, and i loved the result, i really like the salon, the environment was very peaceful and quiet, loved the background music, the whole nine yards, and to top it off i bought a couple of hair products from them. and the service was great and friendly!

    My "Big Chop Experience"

    I would just like to thank Tonya (I hope I spelled your name correct) for helping me to achieve my dream.... I have been wanting to go natural for some time now and after meeting with her for my initial consultation my mind was made up. She was able to provide the service the same day which was good for me since I had taken the day off. The shop was very nice it had a warm and inviting feeling as well as products to suit everyone.     Loved my freedom cut!

    I got my freedom cut at UFD. when i tell you it was a line, it was LINE of curlys buying up UFD products.This reassured me that i was in the right place. Tonya the Main Stylist did my Big Chop, i was already getting compliments before i even left the chair. I read some of the previous comments before going, and i thought i would at least try and form my own opinion. It was great,if your thinking about going, GO!! the products are GREAT and so is the Service.

    A lot of compliments

    I am in the transition stage of going natural and needed something done to my head so I lucked up on finding "Uncle Funk's Daughter. I went in for a hair consultation and the owner was very helpful in helping me to decide what I want done to my hair. At the time of the appt I was seen right away by the stylist and she was quick in styling my hair, the whole process took approximately (2) hours which was not bad. The salon was nice and quiet, it had a serene feeling to it. Love my hair.

    Great Experience

    I had flown in from London for my brothers wedding, so needed an elegant updo, but wasn't sure what to expect . I was so pleased with the end result and thought the stylist was amazing! I was given a number of styles to choose from and I recieved exactly what I wanted. The level of customer service was very impressive. I was glad that I was seen at the time of my appointment and there were no interruptions. I look forward to visiting again next time I'm in town!

    It can't get any better!

    It was great to be able to schedule my appt online. I was able to choose my stylist and actually see the open appts. It was convenient to be able to do everything from the comfort of home. There was no need for me to try to make a call during breaks at work. Uncle Funky's has great customer service and its so nice to be able to be seen at my actual appt time. My appt is MINE and it doesn't overlap with anyone else's appt. I have the undivided attention of my stylist.

    Wow!! I was very impressed and pleased with the level of customer service I recieved right from the very beginning!! This was my first consultation and now I am Super excited about becoming a loyal client!!

    I love my hair, and how it feels..!

    I was so happy to run into someone who know about and was excited about UFD and then told me about them. The service was excellent and I loved not spending my entire afternoon in the salon. I can't wait to try more of the products and to see what they can do with my hair. I'll be back, SOON!

    Always love my hair!!

    I love Uncle Funky's Daughter!!! I love the clothes and I absolutely love my hair. I always get compliments. My hair is so healthy and strong. The customer service is excellent...and I never have to wait or spend all day getting my hair done. I also started using the products and they are great. Thanks UFD!!

    I always enjoy my times at Uncle Funky's Daughter! I'm greeted and made to feel welcome each time I go. It is a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. I appreciate that I don't have to wait to have my service done. The "hair candy" is great too!

    Soo LOVE IT

    I was very impressed with not only the atmosphere at Uncle Funky's but the people. Everyone was very pleasant and easy talk to. It was a relief to walk into a salon with no idea on what was best for my hair and have a TRUE professional guide me on what a style that would compliment my hair texture and my appearance.     Loving my hair

    The service was quick and getting an appointment was fast. I took in the picture from Essence and voila here I am ready for vacation. The products are great and I am looking forward to getting my hair washed again, felt so good.

    Twistalocs

    It's a pleasure having a style that's easy to maintain yet still beautiful. I can go to the gym, go for long hot walks and still have a nice hair do. It's such a great experience having my hair maintained by Tonya in a relaxing professional atmosphere. The place is really AFROLICOUS!!! Everyone greets you with a smile.

    Two Strand Twists

    Uncle Funky's provides great customer service and specializes in natural healthy hair. They are quick and do a great job on natural hair. Appointments are easy to make and they use their own products as well.

    Over the moon!

    Salkis did an awesome job interlocking my locs! I'd been to a seedy beauty salon previously and was told I couldn't wash my hair and my baby locs were started with a mixture of mousse and honey. Yes, seriously! Yes, I slapped myself! Salkis washed them with Squeaky shampoo (which is a whole 'nother review in itself! Yess!) then did my hair and I am absolutely thrilled!! If only they sold a cure to help me stay outta the mirror ;-)

    Love my HAIR and COLOR!!!

    Since getting my BC (aka Freedom Chop!) in May 2010, I've been so in LOVE with my hair!! I love the stylists provide recommendations for colors, cuts, styles, and products, but NEVER force/pressure me to choose! I also love that if I inquire about a style that may not be attractive or flattering on me, they WILL let me know. Recently, I've been trying different styles with my hair and ADORE my 2-strand twists (without extensions)...my husband does too! =o]

    Finally Satisfied With My HAIR!

    I highly recommend Uncle Funky's Daughter. Tonya cut my hair curl by curl to remove all of the straight pieces which is exactly what I wanted. I love my hair and I feel totally free! As others have mentioned, they sell their own products but they do not try to force them on you. They recommend the products for your hair type, but there is no pressure at all to buy what they recommend or anything else. I will be going back there for maintenance!

    In need of a cut??

    Overall my experience was really good! Tonya is great, really nice and personable. The other stylist was nice as well. I went into the salon for a cut and was pleased with the results. The only thing that I was a little disappointed with was the way the stylist detangle my hair as cutting it, it was a little painful, but not too bad, i guess it was because she cut on freshly washed hair with no product. Even though they sale their own products they do not try to push their products on customers!

    Love My Comb Coils

    I went to UFD about a month ago to get a freedom cut and comb coils. I got there a little early (because I was so excited!) and Tonya took me early and started my freedom cut. I love my coils and they look better as time passes. I'll be scheduling my next appointment soon!

    A Natural Girl's "Go-To" for Hair Care and Stylish Clothing

    I've shopped at UFD before but haven't had my hair done there. I wanted to get a freedom cut after 7 months of regrowing my hair out from when I put a texturizer on it. I walked in, had a consultation, scheduled my appointment, and had my cut done all in the same day! Tonya Reed and her staff were so friendly and helpful. The salon itself was intimate and inviting. I like my cut, although I was not overly impressed with the Curly Magic product. It may work better on other textures. Love UFD!

    Wonderful salon

    I would recommend this salon and it's products to everyone. Everyone was so nice and supportive during my "freedom cut". I have received nothing but high compliments on my new look.During my consultation, I felt like their were genuinely recommending only products I needed....not trying to sell me the whole store.I will definately return.

    I love my hair!

    This was my first time coming to UFD and it was also my first time to get a rod set. My hair turned out FUNKY! I like it so much Ive decided this will be my staple style for the summer. The atmosphere is nice and customer service is great. They do everything to make you comfortable. You have to try it , especially if you are natural or transitioning

    Love it!!!

    I have been a customer since February and I have absolutely loved my rodded twist out each time. This time we had a few obstacles, but they offered a great solution and the style still came out GREAT! Salkis did a great job. Thanks UFD!!

    First visit...quite nice

    Arrived 15 minutes early per the website suggestion, only to be told they open at 11 AM...thprobably need to update that.LOL. I love the color of my hair...just not crazy about the front...the part people see first. They offered to cut some bangs, I may take them up on the offer...they were quick, fast, clean, and timely. But hubby liked it and I guess that's all that matters...LOL!

    Very nice experience

    I enjoyed UFD. I liked that I was able to go in and get my hair done quickly. My only issue is the price changed DRASTICALLY from the website....not cool. I even called someone to verify and they quoted the website price to me. Then when I went in for the consult, it was a different price. I didn't call them out on it because business is business but I would suggest they fix that quickly. Other than that, I love going into the shop and boutique!
