I scheduled my appointment at the last minute and the next day got a monthly visitor and attempted to reschedule. When I called they told me they would still be able to do it and surprisingly they did. Maria did mine and she was quick about it and did not make it awkward about the experience and did NOT charge me more because of my visitor. I will be going back.

This was my first experience with waxing so I was very nervous to begin with! The studio is a little difficult to find but once you enter, it is well decorated with a nice ambiance. The entire session took approximately 20 minutes and Maria was efficient, kind (she would stop periodically to ask me how I was doing), and conversation was pleasant (she even took an interest in my life)! I will definitely be a returning customer and will recommend her to all my friends!

Maria is great! A fun person who knows her stuff and her services are inexpensive. I had a difficult trying to find the location at first but once I found it I was in love. It's a nice cozy atomosphere and it is very clean which is a plus. She advised me on how the sugar brazilian was the best option for removing the hair. I am definitely a regular now!

Very nice atmosphere, friendly technicians, conveniently located, and reasonably priced. I went for my first sugaring service (half leg and chin). Unfortunately, by the next day I had developed sores on one side of my chin and several small bumps on the other. Because this was my first experience, I am not sure what factor(s) caused this or what treatments by the esthetician or by me could have prevented it. Still, I would give it another shot.

Awesome experience with Noura! She was prompt, very sweet and quick. I was able to easily find parking close by due to my appt being first thing Saturday morning, but you do have to pay. Prices are very reasonable. Any irritation that I had right after the sugaring was cleared very quickly. I did follow their pre and post sugaring/waxing instructions which I believed assisted in there not being so much irritation after the process. Will definitely be going back!

I had been getting traditional Brazilian wax treatments for years, and had endured the stinging pain that lasts for hours afterwards. The sugar wax method employed by Maria's is second to none! The application technique is definitely different than a traditional wax, but I highly recommend it. Noura is a master of this craft and has a quiet spirit and warm smile. I had no irritation and was very impressed with my overall experience. I have already booked my next appointment.

Great experience with Maria! I have extremely sensitive skin and have had horrible reactions to wax, so I was nervous to go somewhere new when I moved away from my trusted sugaring spot in the South. Maria is wonderful. So wonderful that my husband has also been inspired. Her technique is quicker and much less painful. You will NEVER want to go through the hot wax again. She explains exactly what she is doing, and checks in to make sure you are doing ok. Oh yeah..the prices are reasonable too. Great place to go.

I chose Maria body image studio because they offer sugar waxing. It's much more sanitary than the traditional wax. There's no double dipping involved with sugar wax! I've had Brazilian and upper lip wax services here. Maria is so professional and really makes you feel comfortable. My recommendation for the Brazilian is that you take ibuprofen a couple hours before your appointment. It will help alleviate the pain. Five stars for being a clean, professional and friendly salon.

Contrary to her impression, My daughter who had a facial with Carolina was very dissatisfied. The facial was not thorough and was uncomfortable. I have been going to Maria for the last 3 - 4 years. Maria is very good and very professional in her approach. She uses a sugaring solution that is much less painful and harmful than hard wax. Even though it's painful for a moment she's very perceptive and pauses to let you catch your breath. We laugh about it and she continues to work quickly. I had scheduled online for Maria, ended up having my brazilian done with Nora. Awesome atmosphere, service... Had brazilian done, this was my 4th time getting a brazilian done, but first time trying sugaring-I usually use hot wax. I still think waxing and sugaring are the same except waxing w/out sugar is faster if done right (or with the right kind of wax). Definitely worth a visit. Used a voucher from Living Social.

I've always had great experiences with sugaring here, & decided to try a facial too when I saw the Living Social deal. I made an appointment with Maria over a month in advance, & showed up admittedly 5 mins late & was greeted by someone else who pointed at her watch & then gestured to the treatment room. She never asked about my skin needs/sensitivities nor introduced herself. I would not go back for anything other than sugaring. Nora is very sweet & does a great job.

I couldn't find anything to complain about.I was late, they fit me in, Noura (sp) was amazing.Although I wasn't in pain, she kept making sure I was ok.I've used hard wax and the muslin strips, this was, by far, the best experience ever.I could ramble but I will leave it at this, I'm sure that some people have their reasons for not being happy with Maria's but as for me, they have definitely earned a repeat customer that will certainly be recommending to all my friends.

I got lost looking for the location. The woman who answered the phone could not give me directions, and I ended up being about 100 yards away. The person scheduled to do my facial ran late and my one hour appt was less than 45 min. The saving grace of my experience was the sugar waxing. Fantastic wax job.

There needs to be better management of appointments and arrivals at the salon. I called 3 times before coming in for the first time, and never got someone who could give me details about the treatments. When I arrived, no one greeted me, so I sat around for 15 min. The actual treatment went well, but the management of the salon could be better.

I was introduced to sugaring by a friend. She recommended Maria's and I am so happy she did. The staff is awesome; I have been to both Maria and Noura. They made this somewhat painful process as comfortable as possible. On my last visit, Noura introduced me to numbing cream. I love her for that! I will definitely go on a regular basis now that I know about numbing cream!

Male brazilian, first time in the DC area. Maria convinced me to try sugar and I found it less painful and overall a good experience. Maria is very professional and does the job well. She is also just the right level of friendly. Don't believe those bad reviews. Take note that the bad ones are written by ladies with living social coupons. Nora is such a sweet technician. She performed the sugar wax (Brazilian wax). I purchased the living social deal so got a very good discounted price (normally $45). Although it was very, very painful, Nora's personality soothed me through it and it was great getting to know her. She's from Morocco and we bonded over potentially traveling together :) I would recommend Maria's Body Image Studio in a heartbeat :)

I had gone to an expensive salon for a brazillian for a couple months before I found Maria's and the last couple times they did a horrible job and I ended up with a rash and broken hairs. She suggested a product that I could get at CVS and did a good job to be mindful of my sensitive skin and get as much hair off as possible. To top it off, I paid half as much at Maria's than at the salon down the street, which is a good service at a good price.

I just moved to this area from south Florida where I went to a Euro waxing chain for years(think assembly line). Maria won me over from hello. She was warm and made me as comfortable as possible and left me 100% satisfied! The sugaring lasted 3 weeks and was much less painful than the hard wax I'm used to. I would have appreciated the full 60 minute more than the shortened version, but I was happy with the customer service. Its official - Sugar Brazilian Wax is a lot better than a regular Brazilian Wax. Its not as painful and its definitely less irritation. Maria is wonderful! Maria is always fast and efficient. The sugar wax is so much less painful and she is good at keeping you comfortable and patient if you are sensitive. I have had horrible experiences at other places but never bad experience at Maria's. The only complaint is the lack of privacy. It doesn't bother me but I could see others not liking it.

I used to bounce around to various waxing places, but now that I have found Maria, I will only go back here. I have seen both Maria and the new esthetician, Clara. Both are excellent. I’m a man getting my first Brazilian! The building with the red door is easy to locate; go right upstairs. Maria is a very nice, experienced professional with great manners. Remember to exfoliate, take ibuprofen and apply numbing creme before the procedure. My experience was essentially painless and remaining stray hairs did not stand a chance against Maria's sharp eyes and tweezers. All around a superb experience in a relaxed atmosphere for a good value. Will return!

The atmosphere was nice, as well, but I'm pretty sure the girls in the waiting room could hear my yelps. I thought it was a bit expensive, but my girlfriend tells me that's par for a waxing in the nether region.

I went to Maria for a male brazilian; this was my first waxing experience ever. I was VERY nervous but Maria was AWESOME! It only lasted for about 10 mins; she talked me through the process and it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. If you're looking for a place to go, Maria's is it! The appointment started off a little rocky with a hysterical bride whose skin had reacted to a body wrap. Maria was great with handling her and then came in for my Brazilian. She gave me a heads up on how their paste was different from the salon I had been going to and how it may hurt more than usual since the hair had been broken not pulled at the root. She was right but the end result was fantastic an cheaper than my usual place! I'll definitely be back!

She used both sugar & wax for my chest. It was my first waxing. It hurt like hell, and many hairs just broke off and didn't get pulled. That may simply be due to it being the first time...chest was very sore & raw for 48 hours. Hard to tell what the pull to breakage ratio is, but it's probably about 10 to 1. Willing to give her another shot if I need to do this again.

Maria is fantastic! I've never done sugar waxing before coming to her and it's great. Very little pain compared to regular waxing. Maria is really nice and friendly and makes you feel as comfortable as possible. The salon itself is very clean and sanitary. Just make sure that your hair is long enough. Look for the red door. There is no signage and they've been there for 6 months. From the sounds of it they don't plan on putting any up either. It looks like a house. The owner said in Old Town all the houses are businesses....ahhh that's totally not true! Despite the issues in finding the place and hearing a lecture from the owner about how we should know better (she lectured the person after me to) the actual sugar waxing was good.

after reading the reviews on yelp, i was skeptical but maria did a good job and was really fast. the sugar wax only took 10 minutes so that was great and she didnt give me a hard time about my living social voucher. she didnt get all the hair but they never do... I really think she needs to get towels and blankets instead of the paper that doctors use on the tables and a few paper towels.... that was really weird. overall, good experience.

I've been going to Maria for the past 6 months for regular bikini waxes and can't say enough wonderful things about her and the sugaring process. I have super sensitive skin and with traditional hot and hard waxes I'm red and bumpy for up to 3 days after. But with sugaring my skin is red a little bit the first day and that's it! Maria works fast and is very thorough. And you can't beat $40 for a Brazilian! I highly recommend especially if you have super sensitive skin like me.

This was my first brazillian wax and I had a great experience. Maria was very nice and talked me through the whole procedure and about the special sugar wax she uses which she created for waxing the southern regions. It took no more then 20 mintues for the whole procedure and it was not painful at all before or after. I highly recommend going to the Maria body image studio.

I didn't get Maria for my wax because she was busy and I just had a regular bikini wax. The woman who helped me was very nice but the way she removed the wax was very painful and the end result wasn't very clean and straight...so, not the best bikini wax I have ever had. Next time I will definitely get a Brazilian so I am sure to have Maria.

However, this was the first time that I truly felt a difference in the tightness in my shoulders, neck, and back. It was my first time there and my second brazilian wax ever. I chose sugaring because I heard it was the least irritating to sensitive skin and it is a lot less painful. I can tell you that Maria was excellent at her job I was in and out within 15/20 minutes and she even took me when I was 20 minutes late and the salon was about to close. Im horrible with pain but was actually nowhere near as bad as my first wax. I recommend this place to everyone I will definitely be back for the next!!

Maria was wonderful and very kind. it was my first sugaring experience and it was at times much less painful than waxing. A huge benefit was that it doesn't burn at all. One downside is that unlike waxing, it does leave behind hair in unwanted places. I definitely had to do some tweezing myself and I don't know if this procedure is as thorough as I really want. All in all though, it was a great experience and Maria was great!

I received a 60 min massage from Marion and it was great. I've had at least 10 massages in my lifetime and this one was very different. I'm a runner now (and wanted to get some muscle relief before my half marathon next weekend) and she really worked hard at getting out my shoulder stress and my right glute muscle. Maria does a fantastic job with her homemade sugar recipe. I've been a few times and have definitely noticed a difference in the time it takes for the hair to grow back, and it's certainly thinner. I did have an issue with ingrown hair after my first visit, but I'm dutifully exfoliating daily and coming regularly. The salon is cute and clean and conveniently located off GW Parkway. You won't find a better value in NOVA.

I purchased a brazilian sugaring with Maria through dealfind and it did not disappoint! The method of sugaring itself was SO much less painful than waxing and Maria made it go quickly (no strips, no burning, just quick and easy!). In total I think my appointment lasted 15 min. I was a little surprised that she did not do as thorough a job as I had expected, given her rave reviews. Regular bikini waxes I have gotten in the past have included a thorough post-wax tweezing session, which Maria did not do. I had a number of stray hairs afterwards, which was somewhat disappointing.

I had the waxing done yesterday and I have zero irritation/bumps -which I usually get after getting the bikini wax. Maria rocks! Maria was extremely friendly and put me immediately at ease. Her sugar product is incredible and didn't aggravate my super-sensitive skin. I paid $40 for a brazilian wax and that's way cheaper than anywhere else. That's why I'll definitely be going back to Maria.

I just had my first appointment with Maria through the coupon she offered on LivingSocial. The experience was very pleasant and I plan to schedule with her again. I have been getting waxed for years and had no trouble with her technique. She was also very friendly and understanding when I arrived late to my appointment because of traffic.

Maria is an excellent esthetician who uses a very unique style of waxing. I've been getting waxed for years, and this was the first time I didn't feel tender or sore afterwards!! She is also very friendly and engaging with her clients, making the overall experience very relaxing and comforting! I only wish her shop was a little closer to D.C.

Maria did a really great job, and was really friendly. It was a bit more painful than other waxes I've had, but that may just be because it's been a while. I wasn't a huge fan of the sugar wax compared, I prefer hard wax. The sugar may irritate less the first time around, but it seems like she had to go back over the same spot in order to get everything. But, Maria was great, and in all it was a good experience

I had the body wrap and due to the fact that it was a last minute 1 time wrap I didn't lose a lot of inches ~4inches total but the service was great and I will definitely be revisiting this salon.

I had the body wrap - I genuinely lost more than 10 inches. Went home and fit perfectly into a dress that was too snug before the wrap. I highly recommend Maria's studio.

I used to get waxed but moved here recently and found Maria on yelp.com. The reviews are correct - she is professional, yet kind, light, and one simply cannot feel uncomfortable during the sugaring. And it, btw, is great too. I definitely have fewer in-grown hairs with sugaring. I just hope Maria does not get too busy . ..

My first brazilian wax with Maria was excellent, she explained thoroughly what she was doing and made me feel completely relaxed and comfortable. Very clean and gentle. I wish she were closer but I will definitely drive 45 min again to come see her!

this was my first brazilian sugar wax and it was great. Maria was very patient, quick and talked me through the whole thing. It wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it would be. she was very sanitary and informative. there are a few stare hairs left but nothing too noticeable. I love my wax! I'll definitely be back!

Maria was really nice. The bikini wax was super cheap, especially when compared with other places in DC! I was in and out in 25 minutes. The sugar wax was less painful than traditional waxes, but just as accurate. I will definitely be going back!

I have tried a few places for the brazilian wax service. Maria's salon was the best considering I have sensitive skin. She had wonderful bedside manners, her pricing is great, and is very sanitary. She's a sweet lady herself. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat!
