Irene is not only just the sweetest woman alive - she also does EVERYTHING to a) make sure she get ALL of your hair, and b) to make it hurt as little as possible. I had a bunch of baby hairs, and she was DETERMINED to get them all. "You will waste your money otherwise!" she kept telling me. And of course, she did get all them. I have been getting waxed for...10 years now. Irene is the best I've had!

Recently saw Irene for a Brazilian wax, so glad she was there! Haven't seen her for a while & never know who it's going to be selecting 'no preference'. Irene is so thorough and really knows what she's doing. Don't know how she does it but she gets every little last hair and is done faster than my brain can think. This was my first time getting a Brazilian wax, and Irene made it comfortable and even enjoyable-- she's VERY professional, she explains everything she's doing, and she does the painful part super quickly. Also, she uses hard wax, which is far less painful than soft wax. She didn't miss a single hair and a few hours afterwards, I no longer had any redness. It looks as if I never had hair down there. I highly recommend Irene, and I'll definitely be back!

For years I've been getting my lashes tinted by Lucia Health and Beauty. Since Lucia moved to her beautiful salon in Oakland, I've had Irene tint them in the Berkeley salon closer to my home. I'm always satisfied with the tinting--it makes my eyes stand out so much more than when my lashes are blonde and invisible! And both Lucia and Irene are so cheerful, sweet and genuine! It's a pleasure!

I went to her original locale in Berkeley and Irene was my waxer. She told me it was $29 for an extended bikini (the prices have gone up). THEN she tried to charge me $45 when she was done! She said she went a bit more in than extended, but I told her that's not the price she had quoted me. She said there's a little "+" after the 29 saying it's up to the waxer's discretion. Can you say shady?? I still prefer the hard wax to cheapo wax with strips, but I do miss the days of $45 brazilians...

I got to try Lucia's because of a living social deal. I frequently do brazilian wax's and this is one of the best experiences I have had. The service was quick, patient (I arrived 10 min late), and from what I was told, Lucia strives to use natural elements to make her products which I really appreciate. Best of all, it was painless!

This is the first time doing Brazillian wax with Lucia's spa. Irene is the one who did the job for me. The service is great, but the location (on Stuart st, Berkeley) is weird. It is a unit under a house which I am afraid about their operating license and tax. But that's not big deal since it is cheap and a person did the job right. Thanks

Irene was fantastic. Friendly, made me feel very comfortable, and thorough. This was my first bikini wax and I was not sure what to expect. I have a high threshold for pain, so I don't think it's fair to say one way or another on that front, but rather a generally good experience. The "salon" is under the house in a residential neighborhood--I didn't fully grasp that at first.

New to the bay area, I was nervous to try a new waxing service. However, I found Lucia's service with great views on yelp. She also had a 50% off deal so I decided to try her. So glad I did. After going to the same waxest for the last 3 years I was forced to jump ship due to the company Benifit changing their wax to this pink crap that really does a horrible job. I went to Lucia's and felt so comfortable and happy and was treated so well. She had different waxes to get different hair types and so efficient. I was hair free for 2 weeks longer than the previouse place. Worth every single dollar.

Irene did an amazing job! I was scared at first since lucia always did my brazilian wax and she does and amazing job. But at the end Irene did amazing,she is very fast and not much pain. She is very sweet and makes you feel comfortable, plus she charges about 33$ for a brazilian wax and is just as good as lucia's 55$ brazilian wax.

I have never had any waxing experience, but figured I could use one since Trubates offered a sweet deal. . When looking for the place i got lost, as this salon is located in a residential neighborhood (yes, the salon is in the bottom level of a house). but the waxing room was very clean, professional and comfortable. . Srhada (sp?) was the one how took care of my waxing, and was really nice, calm, and soothing which made my first time waxing smooth sailing. definitely coming back again.

Lucia is really very skilled at waxing. She is actually the only person who has never bruised me (I bruise easily) She uses very good quality wax and she is very proficient. She has obviously been doing it a long time but she is attentive and tells you when to breathe etc to make it as comfortable as possible. Its very professional (clean neat etc) as well as being a very private setting, under her house in a residential neighborhood but I understand she is moving to Downtown Oakland.

Lucia does a great job with cleaning out my pores and leaving my skin with a really refreshed feeling. The next day you cant even tell i had an acne facial and my face clears up immediately. Oh man. This was my first brazilian...actually my first professional waxing of anyring...so I guess I was pretty bold for my first time. Irene was amazing! Sraddha did my Brazilian. It was a good job and very quick. Not a lot of back & forth. She was very nice and professional, Only complaint is the facilities. The waxing room is in the basement of the house and not very private. I could hear a man's voice and she shut the door but I don't know if he got an eyeful first . I was long overdue for a facial and purchased a voucher on LivingSocial. The facial was absolutely wonderful and the environment was comfortable. I didn't care too much for the extractions because of the pain involved but it was not Lucia's fault! The one thing I would like to share is the product(s) that were used went in my eyes during the facial, causing irritation and burning to my eyes shortly after my facial and up to two days afterwards. Other than that, no other issues. Thank you!

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the room was a little chilly, and I'm using to being in dim lighting for my socials and having relaxing, nature-y music play, not mozart. I have extremely sensitive skin and stopped getting bikini waxes for a while since my skin reacts to most products. I'm happy to say my skin was fine afterwards! No bumps or redness at all! Out of all the salons(mainly nails and hair salons) I've been to for a brazillian wax, she is one of a kind. Unlike most honey-like, green/tan substances that are used, hers is SO unique. Think putty-like. Its a very hygenic waxing experience because she doesn't use any cloth to wax off the area. The substance stiffens up on its own so it can be pulled off like tape. You cannot believe how fascinating it is. MUST try!

I recently got an extended brazilian wax at Lucia's, and it was AMAZING. It was my first experience with hard wax and the painful part I was waiting for NEVER CAME. Amazing. For those who have never used hard wax either, it's hotter than the other kind when they apply it (just so you're prepared). Also the position for waxing in back was also way more comfortable than with my previous esthetician (you're on your side). And it's done in 30 minutes! Will definitely be returning for my next wax!

Had a Brazilian wax from Lucia, and I found her technique to be excellent. My skin was very smooth with no strays left behind. Of course it hurts--it's a Brazilian--but only for a second with each strip of wax. Note that her studio door is on the ground floor around the side of the house, and after you ring the bell, just wait for her to open the door if she's running late (there's no waiting area inside...the door goes right into her studio). I found Lucia initially on the internet and have been seeing her for underarm waxes for the last 2 years. She is the best waxer I have ever found! I have never had a brazilian wax before so needeless to say, I was scared. Lucia was very welcoming and very professional. I could not believe how fast things were and how relatively painless it was. I did not have any soreness or redness as a first timer. I highly recommend her and I plan to be back. I am also going to refer my friends who want to try a brazilian as she is the best for someone who is coming for the first time.

Lucia is a warm and friendly person who made my waxing experience the best it could possibly be. I had the full brazilian and she was finished in 15 minutes! AMAZING! The waxing was way less painful and I had minimal soreness and redness afterward than other waxes I've had. She uses a wax meant for sensitive skin which makes a huge difference in the final outcome. Lucia also charges quite a bit less than most salons because she is so quick and efficient. I will most definitely come back to her!!

She is super fast, efficient, thorough and its as close to pain free as you can get with a brazilian! I was really scared to go get one since I havent gotten one in more than 2 months...yep..I was lazy...but Lucia was great and she knew exactly what to do. She is super friendly and she even gave me some advice on how to take care of my skin. She is really wonderful! I definitely recommend her!

Let's face it: Waxing is always painful. I had a Brazilian wax once before and it really hurt, but this time it was actually not that bad. The place is nice and clean and have very nice decorations to distract you. Lucia is very nice and it was really quick and less painful than the last time I had a waxing. I will definitely be back.

i got a little lost on the way, but the service was excellent. Lucia was personable, caring, and treated me with respect. I liked that she used sanitary napkins to clean the skin before she waxed, baby powder, and let me know before she ripped off the cloth.

This was my first visit to Lucia, when she looked at my skin she said, "you got lots of bumps, girl" I felt a little nervous but she really got in there with the extractions...she was very honest about how often I should come in. I am looking forward to working with her to get my skin looking its best. Also I was a little nervous about if she worked with dark skinned clients and she put me at ease right away. Check her out!!

She has a cute little studio on the side of the house and immediately makes you feel welcome. I'll definitely be back. AND it's a GREAT price for a Brazilian.

It was my first brazilian waxing experience, and Lucia made it worthwhile. It hurt ,but only for a second, and because I was pre-mesntrual. I did not know that it it was more painful when one is pre-mesntrual (so keep that in mind). But, she is quick, and lets you know what she is doing. She did a perfect job! I will definitely go back. I went to her to get my first ever bikini wax, but I decided to be daring and go for a Brazilian. I was in and out in 21 minutes. I was expecting to be there for an hour considering it was my first time and tend to be slightly on the hairy side. And to top off the speediness, the pain completely bearable. I mean they are pulling hair out of you nether regions so it was uncomfortable, but definitely not as bad as many make it out to be. Definitely going back.
