There is so many people going to hope center now that the past 2 times i went it was empty...when i first started going it helped a ton...its not the hope centers fault or the staff they are all wonderful...apparently they are opening more food pantries in the county so hope centers food allotment was reduced...i recommend looking for a new pantry because this one is too crowded

I didn't have all my documents so the lady talk to real nasty towards me when she told me you can get on you have to have something with your address on it my pillows were very hurt and I cried my appointment was October 19th 1145 a.m.

Where is all the food? For the last 4 months there has been very limited amount of food. It is very disappointing. 1St. it was cleaners isn't giving out during summer then we here too many people need food. I believe there is more to this then that! All the people who help are super, but that doesn't put food in my stomack!

I came to Hope Center for help with food. Everyone there was very nice and extremely helpful. The only thing that I could say needs improvement is the wait time to get an appointment. I have to wait 3 months to get back in there again... but I know they help a ton of people... I would like to go more than 1 time in a 3 month period though.

I have been coming to Hope Center for 2 years and as a senior it has helped me so much. I have had to schedule my visits on Saturdays for this past year and I find very little food on this day. I appreciate anything I can get.

To be honest with you I was disappointed in the selection that was left there .The shelf's were empty the meet was frozen and you're allow to take only one meat with expired date so not too happy about volunteers they are so nice and helpful.

I am so grateful to the Hope Center in Macomb. They are very caring and give all the help that a family in need may use. It makes me terribly sad to see a shortage in donations for familys. The volunteers are very caring and helpful! It is very nice that there is always a Chaplain there also to try and help people!! It is a great program and glad it is available to help my family when we need it! Many people feel uneasy when having to visit a place to get help even the very first visit they make you feel at ease and knowing that the other people around you are going through rough times also helps to know you are not alone!!

I love the hope center, everyone is so nice & helpful...we are a family of 6 ...My husband works fulltime ,but im unable to work due to illness,we don't get any help from the state , we come every other month to the hope center ,to help feed our 4 children ,,,because food is becoming so much for just the basics...TY hope center ...and may godbless us all

I am very thankful for the food I was able to get fromt he Hope Center. Even though the shelves were rather bare, I was still able to get alot of food that my family needed. The produce and bakery items, however, were abundant and I was able to get things my family really needed and even some treats that we would normally do without. This place is a real blessing to us. The staff at the food pantry is very helpful, efficient and kind. A volunteer forgot some of my food, and they phoned to let me know; when I came the next day, they retrieved it (my name was on it), and packed it in my car. Overall wonderful experience!

They even got me approved for bridge card and you can get help with any other programs out there . It is easier and more comfortable going here . I suggest you spread the word .

I liked the kind people, I wish they had more food my family liked. No good spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, cereal, canned corn or bread. The shelves were kind of bare. It was still a blessing, but I didn't get the food I really needed for my family of 5.

This was my second time at the hope center, and everyone was very helpful and friendly. However, there was very little on the shelves and the fresh produce was rotten. I appreciate the help they give to my family, but to offer rotten and expired food is not right. I dont think they would feed there family rotten food. Just because people are in need does not men they deserve rotten food.

i have been going to the hope center for 2 years now and have seen an increase in the amount of people needing assistance but i am puzzled at how there are days you go and there is alot to choose from and other times there is minimal to choose from and people dont listen to rules ans sneak things without giving others the choice by holding on to goods . but overall the hope center has made a difference in my life

We have visited the pantry for the third time. Each visit varies in selection and availability. I am able to find food items that help us when our money supply runs out and for this we are very grateful. The staff and volunteers have been placed in their perfect calling. Everyone is treated with respect and in a helpful manner. A person's dignity is intact with they leave this Center. Thank you for being there for us.

We were able to use some canned foods, as well as some red peppers. Even though most of the food is about ready to go, we cut out the rotten portions and froze what was salvageable. Thanks for helping to fill in the gaps in our pantry.

The staff were so warm and friendly and everyone was so kind. I was made to feel very welcomed, which made the whole experience pleasant. It isn't always easy to ask for help, however, everyone made it so comfortable for me and my kids loved all the food I brought home, especially the fresh produce!

I was very happy to receive the food from the pantry. I get a modest amount of food stamps that just don't seem to stretch from month to month. The Hope Center was a real blessing to me and provided some food in times of need. My experience was a great encounter.

Hope Center helps me get food when my family needs it. The people there are very caring and will do whatever they can to assist you in any of your needs. I have read some other reviews saying they have some expired food, however if they were knowledgeable they would know that food is still good to eat for a certain time after the sell by date. I visited the Hope Center recently and was horrified at the behavior and demeanor of a woman at the scales named Debbie. She was an older woman and she should not be working with the public. She made a young woman cry, which was uncalled for. Sometimes life is not all black and white. This woman, Debbie should not be working at the Hope Center. If she is there on my next visit, I will refuse to be near her.

I'm male, 53 and was taken aback by one of the older male assistants whose personal questions began to be unsettling. I did my level best to politely respond to him but the questions kept on coming. This was while I was waiting to be helped by the person who processed my information just prior to being escorted to the pantry. However, this will not change my overall positive opinion of the Hope Center and their good works.

After you fill out the form on the first visit, which is easy by the way. Someone might come and ask if you might want to talk or pray if there is time before you see the caseworker. They are never pushy. Every person you see explains everything with you and they really make you feel comfortable. Everyone that I know that needs help, this is where I tell them to call.

I've worked for 25 years & have helped others such as friends & family. In fact I've always been on the other side with charities plus my Dad ran the food pantry at our church. Have been many times like the idea you get to pick your own items so you get what you want and what your family needs although the last visit the worker at the weigh of cart was very rude to me my daughter and a few others she just grab a food item right out of her hand proceeded to talk loudly you cant take that and put it back on shelf she was only reading label to see which one she wanted.at the end on second basket she look thru everything like she was the food police It was very degrading

I visited the pantry Fri. June 29th. The woman at the weight scale was very thorough, which I understand. I feel she could have been a lot friendlier. There was a couple with 3 young children and it was their first time. She was made them very uncomfortable. Other clients were complaining to me about her. I felt this was important enough to bring it up. People must humble themselves in order to ask for help when needed and I think we ALL need to be treated with respect and dignity.

it was a wonderful , the self were empty of something, but i quess that how it goes, looking forward to bring my daughter back, I am the mother, she is having hard time, i told her about this place, and she didnt want to go, but i said you are going, that is what they are here for to help YOU, so she was happy to see, it was a nice place and the people are wonderful, we are gong to help out there now too, we have to go to are class first, so she is looking forward to pay it back

I have been there 3 times & every time everyone there is all smiles & so helpful.We even had a 12 yr old volunteering to load our groceries. Its always hit & miss with the food but if you are hungry, you will eat anything.People got to understand that if food dies on a certain date does NOT mean u can't eat it unless its over a yr old. This food is donated to them and they do an awesome job putting it out for us

Came in for food assistance. Have disabilities and was great for worker to discuss with family and myself what all of us are going through as a family unit and how to help each other balance out daily problems/sorrows etc.. Not only food but also great people to talk with and help emotionally. Great place to have alot of help available. Hope Centre is really what it means...they offer Hope.

I came in for help with ultilites shut off. First time in long time I had to get help. I never been to Hope Center before. I was treated with dignity and respect, from a friendly and caring staff. I was taken upstairs to Good Shephard and helped by Karen. She was very helpful and friendly which made the process so easy. Overall i had a good experience.

I thank God for the Hope Center. I don't know what we would do without them. The food that we receive helps us to feed our family throughout the year. All of the volunteers are so nice, and the choices are wonderful. The Hope Center not only helps with food, but they have information for further help from state agencies. They are just so helpful. A minister even comes around and prays with us, and I was saved last time I visited. Thank God for the Hope Center and its volunteers!!!!!!!

I was disappointed in the selection that was left there. The only meat was frozen, cubed pieces of dark-meat chicken. There were cans of spaghetti sauce that had a "Best used before" date of 4/28/12; I went to the ctr. on 5/30/12. The vegetables that I took - 4 tomatoes - rapidly went bad when I got them home. There wasn't really much of a selection of ANY type of food, to be honest with you.

I like the Chaplins, the service is good, though they were running late at my last appointment and there was not a big selection of food, and we were only given 1 meat and the selection was poor.It is just my daughter and myself and we do appreciate the help;we supplement our Hope center visits with food from a church.Thank you.

We appreciate the help given. Thank you but the last few times we have been there there is hardly any food. The food that is there looks real old and going bad. we do not mind a little old but rotting vegetables and fruit. The shelves were pretty bare. I know times are tough but my husband recently lost his job and now things are worse. We were hoping for a little help with food but did not have much luck. Thank you for what we did receive. It was my first time to the pantry. From the moment I walked in till the end of my gatherings I felt welcome and comfortable by all of the employees. They made my experience a memorable one and treated my son and I with great care. I would recommend and encourage any family who needs the help to make an appointment. I have been receiving food there since October of last year. The staff is extremely courteous an energatic. The building is clean and well organized, on 4-4 and 6-7, the shelves were almost empty, and I could only get 13#'s both times, hopefully I will have better luck in Aug. you for all your jhelp and keep up the good work in the cvommunity Robert B

I love the hope center. I am truly thankful for any food that they help provide for my family. It is always different varieties of meats and vegetables and fruit. The staples of rice, potatoes, soups and etc. are always available and helpful to stretch our food through the month.

With limitations, there's no way I could get close to the figures for the blue cart. not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but I wasnt able to get two Weeks of help.

My husband and I have a difficult time with having enough money to pay our bills and provide enough food to feed our family of 5. Times have been difficult and I can't express how wonderful it is the Hope Center is helping families like mine with food and other resources. We also found a church in our local area from a chaplin at the Hope Center. Everyone is so helpful and nice at the Hope Center. I feel comfortable when I visit and I'm so glad they are there to help!

I have visited the Hope Center several times. I appreciate the people who organize these centers so that we can get extra help when needed. The aisles are kept very clean and when available, there is a good variety of meats, canned foods, cereals, and breads. The volunteers are very pleasant and helpful. This was my 2nd time at HC and was insulted by two different staff members. First, while i was helping 2 women who speek a different language with the paper they need to fill out...a volenteer boldly and unexpectly interupted me and said that if they cant answer it themselves they need to bring someone to help them! HOW RUDE! Also, another staff member told me that i needed to breastfeed my 3 month old, to go in the bathroom...and i had a breastfeeding cover with me!

The help we have received at the Hope Center has really made a difference. We try to eat healthy even tho we are strapped for cash. We appreciate the healthier options-foods without high fructose, msg, etc. I love the fresh food. We freeze what we don't use this week. Thank you for what you do. One problem we have found is that our meat was spoiled when defrosted, so we had to throw it away.

For our first time at Hope Center was very respectful and courteous. They made you feel welcome and not low down like some of the places that offer help. We only used the food pantry, the selection was limited cause it was late in the day, but we did get some wholesome food that will help stretch our food allowance.

Thank you for providing a much needed service to all residents of Macomb County. I love that a chaplain is available for us. I really appreciate all the generous work and huge assistance that all the staff provides. I was very surprised at the bare shelves. I never came on Friday before and that may be the reason, being the end of the week. Up to half of the available stock I couldn’t use since I am a vegan for health reasons. I did not take any animal products. And the breads were very low too. I did not get the full allowance of the free goods. I am not complaining. God watch over your work always!!

Everyone except the grey haired lady weighing the items was really nice----she was not too nice---made me feel like I wasn't wanted. This last time she was ok, so I guess she must have had a bad day the time before.

Everyone is so warm and caring. I visited the pantry and had my taxes done there. Their tax volunteers are so knowledgeable! They knew every credit I could possibly be eligible for. The only reason I gave it a 4 star and not 5, is because when I visited the pantry, some of the food seemed like it was already bad.

I have been to the Hope Center a few different times when I needed the help. Everyone is so kind there & treat you with respect. I like the fact that you can go & pick out what you want as its set up like a grocery store, theres a good selection & when its available you can get meat, dairy products, produce, bread, candy & dessert! This is a good program for the needy & all of the volunteers there are fantastic. I love that we can get prayer also. Thankyou Hope Center.

I have visited the Hope Center twice so far. The last visit wasn't very pleasant. The food was outdated and there were no meats, etc... no milk and a couple of the people in the back who were working the food were rude. I go to the Hope Center for help. I am on disability and appreciate what they are capable of doing for us. It would be great if there would be foods that I could eat.

We have not had to utilize any sort of assistance before, however the economy has pushed us this way. Hope Center was introduced to us and our first visit was both a God send and a test of humility. First off the people of Hope Center Macomb, are Angels on earth, both for donating their time and compassion but more over to subject themselves to the disgusting display of human greed and selfishness that was so prevalent. I was treated with lots of respect during my visit. I brought my child along and we both felt at home. My daughter was showered with gifts and snacks from the moment we walked through the door. The interview was fast and thorough. The actual shopping experience was easy and great. My family of 3 was alloted 70 lbs of food plus bread, veggies, and fruit. I thank God for the Hope Center and I will give back once I am on my feet.

The volunteers were amazing and for that I'm thankful. However, the people who take advantage of this kind service is distrubing. I thought that this was a service for the needy. I saw people in there with 45K dollar cars with clothes and shoes on that cost more then my monthly rent. I thought this was for the NEEDY. Why were their so many kids who should have been in school? School-age children should not be pulled out of school just so the parents can get more food when they drive a cadillac

This is a great place to go when you need food. God can meet needs in the littlest of things. I receintly had my elderly mom move in with us. She really liked mincemeat pie when she was younger, so when I saw there were jars here,I got one, being unsure if she could still eat it with her special diet. Her eyes lit up when she saw the jar. This past weekend was my 3rd visit to the Hope Center, besides volunteering. Workers greeted my wife and children and asked us if we needed prayer. After gathering the food, a young man packed it up for us, all the while telling us about the love of Christ he's found in his life, and how much God loves us. He even loaded the car while we were strapping the kids into their seats. Huge blessing. I will spread the word about this place far and wide. Jesus truly does love us all.

I have been to a few food pantries, but the Hope Center is by far the best. It's set up like a grocery store and I love the fresh fruit and vegetables! Hope Center's pantry meet many of my food needs when I visit- plus several "wants." It is a wonderfully run and managed facility! I especially appreciated it, that Religion isn't rammed down your throat. I have avoided other placed, because of that. It's wrong to do that, and I'm g ad that they don't.

shelves were more than half empty. and the stuff they had were past the expiration date or soon to be. the amount of stuff i got was less than the vietnam vets gave to me last summer, which was enough to last six weeks. the stuff from the hope center would not last 1 week.

The staff is professional and kind. It only took 40 minutes to complete the interview as well as the shop experience. I was overwhelmed at the generosity. The only concern is that some food (meat and dairy) had expired purchase/use dates and were still being distributed for consumption.

I was recently laid off and had no idea how I was going to get over the hump of being unemployed and finding a new job. My family was running out of food, we barely had anything left. I found Hope Center of Macomb on the internet through a pantry website. They were kind, courteous and professional. It is run by volunteers. You are able to pick your own food items, walking through a simulated grocery store, filling your cart. They preserve your dignity and are of the utmost help.

This is my fourth trip to the center. I start my new job in two days and The Hope Center has been instrumental in helping my family survive without loosing our house or having our utilities shut off! The food really stretches my budget and allowed me to pay for other necessities! The staff has always been kind and helpful and I have managed to maintain my dignity in a tough time! Thank you everyone for all that you have done and God Bless. I would also like to volunteer weekends as a payback!

I had an early appt. (9am). All of the volunteer staff, including the pastor was there and did their "circle of prayer" which was very, very uplifting to me. Every volunteer at Hope pantry makes me feel like I am soooo special and not the poor person I, and my family, are at this time of our lives, for the last 2 years. More importanly, the food given is beyond belief. When I come home after my trip, my family (of 5) feels like "kings and queens". Thank you, thank you!!!

I would recommend the Hope Center when someone is in need! I personally had a wonderful experience and was helped alot at the Hope Center. They are very organized, clean and helpful! I had No trouble understanding the gudielines and regulations that were instucted for me to follow. The food was very fresh and much needed!

my first visit. volunteers are wonderful, kind, caring and sympathetic. I was told there was lots of meat. Meat was all brown and past expiration date. Also meat selection was stuff nobody would eat. Bread was expired and smashed. I thought there would be milk, eggs and a better selection...but that was wishful thinking. All in all, good for canned goods and non perishable items only.

I was told you get a lot of food even if there just two of you We were aloud 50 pounds and walked out with 15 because there was hardly anything there. We were only allowed 1 meat they had no produce. I went a week before thanksgiving Im hoping next time I go will be better

I have been to the hope center several times this year unfortunately. I have been to several around the county and sadly was treated like a low life by others and that I was nothing, just to add insult to injury I think. But at the hope center you are treated like a human being. I have never seen such wonderful staff that go out of their way to make you feel like a human. Great Job by ALL.....

Very pleasant people. Food mostly about to go bad. Limits on canned veggies, soup, juices things that should have no limit. I would suggest only going if in DIRE need. Church pantries are much fresher. Very little diapers given. Only have up to size 3.

I have unfortunately had to use the services of Hope Center in Macomb due to the loss of my job & my disability, & have been a client since June 2011. The food pantry is only a portion of the services I have received. The spiritual counseling & avenues to other services have helped to alleviate my current burdens. Everyone, & I do mean everyone at the center has treated me with dignity & respect, & I no longer feel ashamed when I arrive for my appt. They have been & continue to be a blessing.

I recently visited the Hope Center Food Pantry. I was very impressed with the line of food items there. Even though most of the can goods were past thier freshness date, there was a large selection. I do believe though, that dented cans should not be offered for consumption. I truly appreciate the services there.

I really do appreciate all the assistance that I received and food. This last visit though I was apprised of the Commodities that you have given on a monthly basis and never received a flyer to alert me that it will end with October. I was dismayed and lucky in passing to hear about it on one of my six month visits. Also the stock and produce of that visit was really low. I was told that you had a lot in storage but no one to put them out. Must have picked the wrong day to come.

On the day of my appointment, I had several difficulties. ( Out the door late, stopped by a train, got lost, and forgot some needed info). The staff arranged for me to come in the first thing the next morning. When I arrived, the staff was all gathered in the reception area discussing ways to improve the efficiency of the organization. As I waited patiently, they asked if anyone in the reception area wanted to join them in prayer. Everyone waiting joined in. VERY NICE! It shows they care.

Well their very kind (most) of the time but a few times some people were rather rude and can make you feel unwelcomed or even worse like white trash.A lady once referred to my Niece and Mother as "He/Him" which was offensive because neither one of them looked like a Boy/Man.Then while shopping I have a couple people telling me its okay to double up on a few items then the next thing I know a lady comes up to me telling me I cant and starts taking food from my cart,thankfully the other lady walke

As always the folks there were kind and knowledgeable. This time when we went through the "store" They had just gotten some eggs in. We were encouraged to take as many as we could eat. Since eggs are very expensive but also one of our favorite foods this was a true kindness that saved us so much money.

I am a single mom of two fast growing young teen boys who are hungry all the time. And I found myself struggling to keep a meal on the table, let alone three meals a day. But a good friend told me about the hope center, and what they do for the people struggling in Macomb County. The people at the hope center were wonderful so sweet and welcoming and so generious with there emplathy and caring for everyone I have been there twice and both times the hope center was the answer to my prayers/.

I didnt know what to expect when I went to Hope Center. I was a little taken back when I saw food with mold growing on it. I hope in the future those items will be removed before they open. I appreciate all the help they were able to provide. My neighbor told me how much they normally carry, I think I got there on an off day, there was not much, or maybe I need to get there earlier. I will make my apt. next time for in the morning. thank you for what you were able to provide for my family.

We were greeted by Chaplin Tucker, and made to feel welcome. The shopping experience was wonderful. We were able to get a lot of dry goods that were very necessary for us. Sometime when you find yourself in need, you are made to feel inadequate, but we did not feel that way at all. It was a pleasure to deal with Christians who know the Lord as we do. May God Bless this Ministry and make it fruitful.

Enrolling in the program was simple and quick. The process of selecting the allowed quantity of food and the variety of items was impressive. Assistance in putting my groceries in my vehicle is appreciated by a 83 year old with a bad back. Will be back in two months.

It's been very hard to buy groceries and such to feed our family for the whole month and because of you, we are able to get some of the help we need. The helpers were all wonderful! However, when it came to the meat, I would double check them daily....all the meat that was out the day of our visit was not good....other than that, all I can say is we had a great experience and a big THANK YOU

I would like to praise the people at Hope Center of Macomb. When I had made the appointment I thought it would be some sort of demeaning experience, but there was none of that. Everyone was very professional and helpful at the Hope Center and for my first visit, which I expected to be much longer, only took 20 minutes from the time I walked in the door. This was my first time at the hope center and i have to say it will be my last. the fresh meat was out dated and GREEN... thats discusting. And very dangerous.. someone could get very sick.. The article i saw in the local paper said there was fresh produce... i did not see any fresh produce.. most of the food i recieved wasnt even edible.. maybe i went on the wrong day.. ???

Although the food items are limited, Hope Center does carry some staple items that can help your grocery budget stretch further: rice, oatmeal, canned soup. Bread and cakes were unlimited and can be frozen for future use. I would encourage anyone to take advantage of this wonderful service. We all need help in these difficult economic times.

This was our first visit to the Hope Center and it was a great one! We will be back again! The people there are so caring and very helpful! They food is exclusive and a large variety of it! I recommend this place to anyone that is in need of help! You Rock Hope Center!!!!!

I was nervous when I first went to the Hope Center but quickly my fears were gone because everyone was so friendly and nonjudgemental. It is nice to know there is such a place that people can go when they truly need that help. Thank you so much for you help!

Everyone at the Hope Center was friendly and made me feel okay about needing help. They talked with my kids and myself. It is good to know there is help when we needed it most. Hopecenter off Macomb was there to service my needs when I needed help for food there shoul be more hope centers all over michigan also the experience of praying with you when you first enter the facility really lifted my spirts and gave me so much hope Thank you Hope center
