I'm so glad I made the appointment and went to the writing lab. Elizabeth is very nice and attentive. With her help and advise I have more confident on my paper. I learned a lot from this visit.

Terrible
I went all the way to the writing lab because I had a scheduled appointment and NO ONE showed up. That was terrible. I also called the number and of course, no one picked up.
It was a good thing I live on campus because I had a weekend appointment and I would have been even more upset if I had to drive all the way back home.
Something should be done about this.

Excellent !!!
I stopped in by chance and got the opportunity to work with the SOM Writing Lab and what a difference it made on this essay. The help on my thesis and focus to my paper where what I so needed. Also the help with using MLA works cited was really great. An awesome resource that is available to SOM students and I hope others will take advantage to the knowledge and experience that the Writing Lab offers.

Indian tutor does not help at all.bad skills,bad attitude,bad accent .
The Indian tutor,only figures out the grammar problem.And her attitude is not good,plus she could not give any valuable advice on structure and rhetoric. I just don't understand,why hire Indians do this?We are new here,we are bad at writing,so we ask for help.But Indians?They are no better than us at writing.We want help from locals who are good at writing.But not Indian students who cannot write local papers.Just ask more students who met the Indian tutor.They are all not satisfied at her!

Writing Lab Rocks
Excellent instruction. The writing lab tutor was very kind and read through my entire paper out loud. By doing so, we were able to pick up on sentence flow issues. I HIGHLY recommend using this lab INSTEAD OF the GEM lab that's so highly touted on campus. I tried them and instead of reading my entire paper, offered irrelevant assistance; for example, suggested I consider options outside of the scope of the writing assignment's specifications.

The guy that helped me out gave me really good advice - he read through my essay and told me what I should and shouldn't do - just things to keep in mind in general. It helped out a lot...I'll be sure to come back for any writing dilemmas!

Excellent instructors
The lady helping in the writing lab is very helpful and polite. She reads through the paper very thoroughly.
Only thing which troubled me was that the website is not updated. The website says that walk-ins are allowed but after driving for 40 min when I reached there I saw a note on the front door saying "no walk-ins". PLease make sure that any schedule chane is also updated on the website.

Raini was very helpful and professional in helping me pinpoint the errors in my papers. I really appreciate her assistance. Quick and Brilliant !!!!
Wow! I arrived at the lab and barely spent about 10 - 15 minutes. The tutor was totally brilliant and was right on point. The assistance was great and she had the perfect ideas to help polish my writting. Needless to say, i just received my paper back from my instructor... = "A".

Lean Six sigma paper
She is helpful and efficient, especially in sentence structure. With her assistant, I can express what I mean more clear. It only took me 15minutes to correct my paper. This is the best experience I had about the service in campus.

Good resource but....
It would be more helpful if the lab could coordinate with the course instructors on their writing requirements. Too many unclear and ambiguous style methods and guides. Too much time is spent on formatting papers rather than learning the subject matter.

awesome
i went to the writing lab several times, and the tutors that i met are all very nice and gave me great help. they checked my essay so carefully that all my punctuate and grammar problems had been found out and corrected. what is more, they always offered me their opinions,like some points that i can add into the essay or some message that i had better write off, which really help me a lot

Really impressed
I was very lucky to have Jose to help me with my paper. He really impressed me because he did more then just revise my paper but full heartedly gave me great ideas. I've only been to the writing lab once but I definitely would tell my friends about it and would definitely come back.

Great Feedback
My writing advisor was Anthony. He was very perceptive and quick. His advice on paragraph organization, word choice, and syntax were all top-notch. I would definitely visit again. SOM Writing lab is lucky to have him.

Inconvenient.
My appointment was cancelled the morning before I was supposed to go in and there was no replacement tutor to help. I had no opportunity until late evening for a tutor to be there to help me.

Improvement from fundamentals to details
It was unbelievably helpful! I was not good at writing at all; but the amount of effort the tutor put into my paper in order to improve me was amazing. They helped me understand what I essentially did wrong, thus rooted me for good improvements.

SOM writing lab is a great helper!
A team of writing tutor were very helpful. They tried to understand what I was writing and came up with the standard English sentences which made my writing were much easier to understand and ready to submit.

SOM Writing Lab - 10 page write up review
SOM Writing Lab tutor was very helpful and she helped me correct my 10 page report and took pains to explain how to cite the references (Which I was totally not aware of). She did a very good job.

I have learned a lot from there. and I find my meterial really get better after modified my the tutor. It's a gerat place for international students to modify the writting meterial as well as learning English.

good experience
It was my first time to the SOM writing lab. Everything is good. They are very careful and go over my paper quickly. The most important thing is that they are not business major, but the suggestion is really professional. I'll take use of the writing lab in the furture!

Really helpful!
I went in for an essay that wasn't assigned in the SOM, but the tutor was still really helpful. I had trouble with the organization of my essay, and she helped me develop my essay relatively quickly. I left there feeling very confident with my paper. Definitely planning on going for every major essay assigned!

writing lab also helps with resume and cover letter
The tutor helped me with details of sentence and paragraph organization for my resume and cover letter. My appointment was at 9:30. And since there was no other appointments that morning, the tutor worked on my resume and cover letter until 11:00 to get them all done. Great help. Thanks a lot!!

No comunication
SOM writing lab gave me exelent help in reviewing my paper. The only problem was that I had no way of contacting them when i needed. They have no phone number or email.

very disappointed
was helped by an indian/pakistan man who couldn't speak clearly; I was very frustrated because he did not know any american phrases that I wanted to use in my paper. I am a foriegner and I have nothing anginst them. However, when writing an english paper I prefer someone that understands american wording and not only grammer problems. I received no help whatsoever and this is not the first time having this problem.

Poor Quality
The instructur lacked interest in reading thoroughly my work and, thus, he was unable to produce reliable advices on how I could improve the document. He had a strong accent and, often times, i was unable to understand what he was saying. Overall, I do not think that he had the required competencies for the job.

I like the writing lab it help me a lot, the only thing is hire more people. There are only 1 guy i saw doing my paper for 30 minute and he going nut like he doesnt sleep a lot, he got a attitude and feel like we bother him.

Group paper revision - Excellent Service!
This was an awesome service and mucha ppreciated visit. I have never used the writing lab, but found it to be tremendously helpful. Without the lab, there is no telling what kind of shape my paper would be in. I really hope that other students learn to utilize this very necessary and benefital tool. UTD is great for offerring such a service.

I think every tutor is very helpful and friendly, they are willing to look into your paper in great detail and break things up. A great resource and a bunch of very friendly people.

This was a real good session as it made me aware of how a professional resume is written and what do the employers look for in a resume while shortlisting us for job interviews. The person out there was really helpful and I advise all to take advantage of this wonderful resource available.

Great way to improve written English
My writing tutor is patient and helpful. He assisted me to write an essay for two days. First, we clearified the thesis and important points and planed the whole structure of the essay. Then we worked on the word choice and transitions. After all, my essay is well-organized and good to read.

Nice and Helpful Experience at Writing Lab
People here is nice and patient. When I bring my cover letter here, the stuff told me a lot how to make a great sentence and how the structure of cover letter should be.I gain a lot of useful information here.

Whenever I have a writing assignment, the first thing that I do is getting an appointment from the writing center...I very appreciate the tutors' help...They always showed me how can I write better...I have learned a lot of new grammar rules etc. from them...It is important to note that they are also patient and serious...Thanks again all the tutors...

lab experience
the experience was great, i feel like the only downfall to the free printing was in the extra two pages needed for every printing job assignment. it should be only 1 page of the persons ID number to maximize the usage of printing a person can do =). Other than that everyone was polite and very helpfull.

Writing Lab Experience
I thought that the tutor was very helpful. She made corrections to my paper, and explained every correction, and why she had made it. I felt that it was very helpful, and I definitely plan on returning to the writing lab with any other assignments I need help with.

good experience
writing lab was definitely helpful for me. I went for my law assignment and I was able to correct my mistakes that I couldn't point out myself otherwise. Having a writing lab in SOM is a valuable asset for all the students and a great resource to improve writing skills.
The only thing that I didn't quite find nice was that my appointment overlapped with someone else, and the tutor didn't adjust me that day for the review. My deadline was approaching too. otherwise,overall it was nice experience

Not Help at All
I do not understand the reason, but the instructor was not good mood. No-greeting, no-smiling, nor no-introducing herself. She did check my paper that was not my expected level. Even I, who need to go to the writing lab, can fix myself how she did. Also I asked my question, but she really did not answer for me.
I was very disappointed this time. I have had an excellent experience with an Indian instructor before.

Absolutely fabulous
I am so happy that the SOM has its own writing lab. The people are very friendly and helpful. I have check major project with them and I have always received very specific feedback in a timely fashion. I strongly recommend if helps is needed to go and seek their suggestions and advices.

A wonderful experience
I went to SOM center to get help with my personal statement that is non-related to business major, instead of turning me away, Emily and Dhruba offered their helping hand. SOM staff gives an OUTSTANDING service. Emily and Dhruba taking time out to explain your writing weakness and strength, gives you guiding on how to improve your paper, and very friendly. Thank you!

Words cannot express how helpful the SOM Writing Lab has been for me this semester. The option to have your papers proofread and critically analyzed is so greatly appreciated. I work very hard to have a "clean" draft when I stop by, but the staff always has excellent ideas of how to make the finished product even better.
