Lots of good talking, could have used more movement
I think I'm more of a kinesthetic learner, I really appreciated all that Ted talked about, really agreed with him, but needed more actual form coaching and maybe a plan of how to continue this transition with my Vibrams. He's so enthusiastic and kind, I really enjoyed every minute, but later I was having trouble remembering it all...He's very inspiring! Thank you Ted!

Excellent Intro-totally worth the trip from Portland
I've experimented with barefooting it before but always ended up with a lot of questions and sore calves. Ted was really clear in explaining his concepts. He also welcomed all of the questions I had and didn't rush through any part of the lesson. I had my lesson yesterday and I already went out today and starting mixing in barefoot running with my normal run. Absolutely worth the price and trip to Seattle. On top of all that he is a very humble and down to earth guy.

Loved every minute of this
Barefoot Ted is a natural coach. His obvious love for barefoot running is combined with an excellent, conversational teaching style, which made my session a great experience. I learned some key things to help me work on my running on my own.

Worth flying across the country for!
I thought I was pretty well versed in barefoot running until I met with Barefoot Ted. From him I learned that a slight tweak to my stride was all I needed to alleviate the discomfort I'd been having and actually ditch my 5 Fingers for TRUE barefoot running! My only regret is having not signed up for the longer training with more running. I guess that just gives me something to look forward to on my next visit to Seattle!

Great discussion
Barefoot Ted knows it all when it comes to barefoot running. It was a nice, informative discussion and I will likely be scheduling a follow-up to talk more specifically about my program and questions.

A good investment
BFT offers a nice blend of knowledge and genuine passion for running- not only as an artform, but as a way of enjoying life, as well. He is down to earth and I appreciate his focus on keeping to the basics and helping others find the means to utilize these tools to the best of their abilities. I felt my money was well invested. Thank you.

Great meeting
I got what I wanted to out of my meeting with BFT and more. There was a great discussion about running as an art form and how we are vulnerable yet strong as we feel the earth with what nature intended. He was shocked to see the shoes I normally ran in before trying barefoot, and gave me suggestions on how to transition into minimal footwear and barefoot. He was positive and realistic about what I needed to work on, and I left feeling very excited to work on my goals.

got exactly what i needed, in constructive and positive context
I've done various marathons and recently 50k, but want to adopt a more sustainable, healthier approach to do longer distances, and Ted was very helpful in looking at my stride and discussing workouts and drills that are consistent with my goals. I felt it was very constructive and I'm optimistic about my longer term running propects. Further, I found Ted positive and able to provide great perspective that make him a pleasure to work with.

Love the new elastic laces!
As always the experience is highly positive. I have greatly enjoyed the freedom with Luna Sandals. Now with the elastic leather laces and new configuration I'm not burning through laces (or foot parts) and am loving every minute of my runs. Thanks Jules and Luna Sandals!

Luna Sandal Co Rocks!
Never have I worked with kinder, more dedicated people. As a non-runner simply interested in foot heath, they have spent several cumulative hours helping me with fit, answering my excited questions, and just sharing their experiences. I'm trying to get everyone I know within driving distance of the factory to visit. Thanks to all of you for what you are doing! I love my Lunas!

Excellent introduction
I consulted Barefoot Ted (BFT) by phone 2 days ago. He have highly intellectual and technical coaching tips on how I should start barefoot running. He put everything into context of the human history as well, and he was quite inspiring. The information was very practical and helpful. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is starting out with barefoot running.

Luna Sandals changed my life! seriously.
I have Lyme Disease and Luna Sandals with leather laces happen to be "grounded" (google it if you don't know about this). My endurance using them skyrocketed and my pain levels plummeted. The designs are elegant and comfy. Ted is great! Wish I could give Luna Sandals to the whole wide world. Us immuno-compromised folk aren't the only ones out there who would reap health benefits from grounded, near-barefoot sandals.

fun factory visit
My wife and I were welcomed into the sandal factory and given an overview of what has happened and what is to come for Luna Sandals. Ted and his coworker, Jules, were great in helping me decide which sandal would be best for me, considering the weather in Seattle and my predicted usage. They were able to fit me with sandals as we chatted. I am now a proud owner of Luna sandals and will return for a second pair for spring time.

Barefoot running clinic and Luna Sandals
I've now had the chance to do a barefoot running clinic with Barefoot Ted, as well as visit the Luna Sandal factory and purchase a pair of Luna Sandals. Ted is a treasure trove of information on barefoot and minimalist running knowledge and technique. His passion for this approach to running in infectious and I look forward to running with him more in the future. I've written two blog posts (so far) on my experiences with Barefoot Ted - they can be found at http://seandh.com.

Barefoot Ted rocks!
Ted is an awesome guy. His energy is infectious, and his insights into running are thought provoking and encyclopedic. His delivery is full of energy and joy, and being around him is just plain fun. 4 of us went for an introduction to barefoot running, although each of us had done various amounts of barefoot running in the past. I personally have been running in Vibram Five Fingers for 2+ years. I think each of us got exactly what we wanted out of the meeting: a fun and entertaining adventure.

Transcendence
Creating something new, and creating it with their hands and spirit, Luna Sandals is looking toward a path to transcendence in running. This path lies amidst another running boom and in the face of unstable and unsustainable economies and thus social fabrics. Luna Sandals and those with similar visions will continue to present a needed voice and presence within the running and retail community and societies at large, a voice that resonates as kids but that is too often lost along the way.

BFT took the time to not just answer my questions regarding Luna Sandals but to explain in detail the why of his huraches, the direction of development and, in a small way, his vision. he also took the time to ask questions as to my running needs so as to better answer. all of these insights aided me in confidently making my purchase decision.

Barefoot Ted is Fantastic
I scheduled a coaching session with Barefoot Ted (BFT) and purchased a pair of original Luna Sandals. I could not be happier with the experience. It was a great time to walk, run, and talk with BFT about barefoot running. Extremely helpful with my efforts to bring barefoot running into my training routine. My sandals are fantastic as well, I absolutely love them! I highly recommend both the experience and the footwear.

I recently ventured down to Seattle for interviews at Microsoft and managed to sneak in a visit to the Luna Sandals shop. This was definitely the highlight of my trip. Great info
I took his introductory 1 hour class with my mom and a good friend. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because his building is extremely difficult to find. It doesn't really have any markings of any kind to indicate that it is the Luna Sandal company. Other than that it was a great experience. I can't wait to start running again. I'm also very much looking forward to ordering a pair of his sandals.

Worth every step! (and penny too!)
Having a coaching lesson from Barefood Ted was incredible! He was extremely knowledgable and very friendly, answering all the questions of both myself and my cousin who tagged along for part of it. He knew how to coach me at my skill level (experience with barefooting/minimalist, but a beginning runner) and was very encouraging. I was able to use what I learned at the lesson when I ran a 7-mile race the following week in AZ...I could hear BFT's instructions ticking away in my head! Awesome!

Barefoot in Volunteer 2 hour session, thanks
It was great learning more of your thoughts on the philosophy and foundation. My question to you is how could we win that day? We heard a lot of your accomplishments, I think it would be great to have a win under our belts about what we have accomplished by starting this journey of freeing our feet. I would have liked to get a little more feed back on our individual style. I loved learning about how naturopathic doctors being part of the history of running barefoot and want to know more about.

I learned a great deal and had a very enjoyable time on an incredibly nice day at Volunteer park. Ted's passion for the minimalist philosophy is infectious and I felt that I had a kind of breakthrough at the end of the session when I was able to demonstrate my "trot" and things seemed to be starting to come together for me between gait, cadence and posture. Good stuff, I highly recommend a session with Ted for any aspiring distance runner.

Well worth the time and money
So many runners stop running because of injury problems. I believe that running, per se, is not the problem but rather it is a dysfunctional running style and the reliance on footwear that masks the natural feedback your feet and legs give you. If you want to learn how to minimize injury problems, Barefoot Ted has the answers. I walked away from the training more confident than ever that I was going to overcome my barriers efficient pain free running.

Do it!
While visiting Seattle from Los Angeles, and while reading about BFT running with the Tarahumara in Born to Run, it was a no brainer hooking up with Barefoot Ted in Volunteer Park for one of his Barefoot Running coaching sessions. It was so cool meeting Ted and I learned so much. Beyond the information, Ted's passion for barefoot running seemed infectious as I am now rediscovering running the way it is supposed to be and I have a newfound appreciation for the feet I was born with.

I recently had the telephone consult with Barefoot Ted and it was the best $50 I have ever spent. You get to pick the brain of a barefoot running god, listen to wonderful insights, ask all of your questions...and just be in the presence of a BF pioneer. Great Teacher - lots to learn
I've been running in Vibram KSO's for about a year, including the Robie Creek half marathon in Idaho. However, I feel I had hit a plateau in my running. The hour I spent with Barefoot Ted gave me a number of key concepts to work on that I am sure will take my running to the next level. Ted was very motivating and his explanations of key concepts were very clear. Finally, I really enjoyed "Born to Run" written by Chris McDougall so it was a real treat to meet Bare Foot Ted in person.

Great talk - great advice - highly recommended
Our talk-clear, inspirational, informative My actions afterward - Bought Vibram KSO's that night. Ran with the KSO's a few times, but then wanted more- started running barefoot on asphalt - ran a block, then two blocks, and just today I ran a mile barefoot. Barefoot is the way to go! Feels natural, free -some muscles are a little sore, but in a good way. Thanks so much, Ted for getting me off on the right foot! My goal is to run my next marathon barefoot.

Good for my feet
Barefoot Ted brought me up to speed and increased my confidence to use of my bare feet more - a minimalist's approach. He answered my questions concisely. He provided an acceptable approach to removing my feet's "casts" and gradually build their strength, flexibility and feeling again. The listening for the thud in my head has already worked many times. I feel more confident helping my feet feel good again.

Great conversation, good coaching
Ted was friendly and provided what I was seeking - teaching points to transition to minimalist footwear running. The exercises he recommends are valuable for training your feet and, just as importantly, the rest of your body. I am very happy overall about the transition away from over-structured running shoes, and Ted provided touchstones to use throughout this process--exactly what I was seeking. He generously extended our conversation and provided a recording.

Barefoot Tenderfoot
The barefoot training yesterday in Volunteer Park has given me the key to making my running form more efficient for my next race, a 5-miler in Olympia. Ted also taught me jumping stairs, both up and down, something I didn't think I could do. Then he worked on balance. The training gave me a lot of tools to help make me a stronger, more efficcient athlete. Well worth the $75!

A Wonderful New Perspective
My son and I just completed an intro session and walked away, barefoot and beaming. I am nearing 50 and had not run in eternity and my son is only 12. We each gained such wonderful insights into running. Ted is indeed a passionate runner and patient teacher who managed to share lessons on movement, both on pavement and through life. This is a wonderful way to reconnect with the concept of running and and our place on the planet as well!

An Epiphany
I'm a 48 year old executive and a devoted runner since high school, and ran several marathons in my 20s. However in the last 15 years I've been plagued by injuries whenever i pass certain mileage thresholds. So "Born to Run" was an epiphany for me, and after reading it i immediately began researching the characters..and found Barefoot Ted's coaching business. We talked for an hour and I've already begun running semi-barefoot and working on some of his great suggestions. It was money well spent.

A Great Investment
I met barefooot on one of my regular runs - taken by why someone would be running without shoes on day when it was 40 degrees and raining. He suggested I read Born To Run and check out his website. The book was amazing- inspirational and educational. I loved what read. Meeting with Ted in person for an intro to barefoot runninreg was a great way to get started. He is an excellent coach. Very knowledgeable, passionate and helpful.

Very Inspirational!
My phone session with Barefoot Ted was wonderful. I've been researching barefoot running for a while but his insights and information were unique and very valuable. I learned so much and also got the individual attention I was looking for. Thank you!

Expanding the running years!
After running for almost thirty years and enduring just about every injury in the "book", I get it now! Ted's Intro to Barefoot Running session sets you straight - run correctly and know that you will run virtually injury free for many, many years! His enthusiasm is contagious, and, given his achievements, he "walks (and runs) the talk" - barefoot of course. We have discovered a renewed joy in an activity we have always loved and in addition, running in VFFs is just plain cool! Thx BFT!!!

Shift Your Paradigm
Barefoot Ted’s Introduction to barefoot running was one of the best experiences I’ve had in one on one instruction. I had started toying with barefoot running, and Ted’s instruction consolidated and validated everything I had experienced so far. He gives wonderful technique drills, as well as overall fitness pointers. If you are a runner, it will bring fresh perspective and joy back into your running. And if you are a beginner, you will learn the right way to run!

Informative and fun!
BFTed's coaching session was VERY helpful! It helped me reinforce some of my good form/technique and eliminated some of my bad barefoot running habits. Total bonus that he is also a very enjoyable guy and that the session was fun! I highly recommend anyone interested in bare-footing (or minimalist running) spend the time and modest amount of dosh to take his coaching clinic!

Wothwhile session
Born to Run's characterization of Ted's gift for conversation is a definite plus for his teaching. It was a fact-filled session that is tailored to each runner. He re-inforces what you are doing right and gently corrects where needed. I ran a marathon one week after meeting with Ted and his emphasis on form was a big help. Highly recommended whether you want to go barefoot, with VFF, or with less supportive shoes.

Don't jog, run
I highly recommend a session with Ted. Don't waste time and potential injuries trying to figure out barefoot yourself.Ted's got it down, and as simple as it might seem, it is easy to make mistakes in training and technique at the start. We all have the innate ability to run this way,and Ted knows the path, plus he is a damn fun guy to hang out with!

Great Fun
I've been trying for 10 years to run barefoot, always to get calf injuries and stop thinking how sad it was that I couldn't actually pull it off. After reading Born to Run, I decided to give it another go and start with less mileage, no pressure and just enjoy it all. I was having fun for a couple of months and when I worked out with Barefoot Ted, I was able to pick up a lot from watching him run and his tips. He really makes it very simple, with just a few things to consider. Great fun.

Fantastic session!
My husband, myself and my 82 year old mother-in-law thoroughly enjoyed our session with Ted. After running for years and getting more and more injured I had really backed off. I began experimenting with barefoot running about 7 months ago. I also read "Born to Run", which led me to Ted's website. Ted was so informative and enthusiastic. He answered all of my many questions. I would definitely recommend a session.

Return of Hope
I had given up running due to repeated, prolonged injuries and listening to the "common knowledge" that running is hard on the body and that at some point you have to give up. Ted's great techniques, storytelling and tips have made me a happy, self-sufficient barefoot runner (with much still to practice), and I am incredibly thankful!

Great barefoot session!
This was a great session with Ted! He is very thorough and gave great tips and tricks to becoming a more efficient runner, whether barefoot or shod. Of course, learning barefoot is the most effective means, but I was able to take some tips I learned on a run the next day - with shoes on. I highly recommend a session - I am a ChiRunning instructor and this is a great complement to that style!

Worth the Price of Admission
I found Ted's class to be very helpful. Though I was familiar with many of the techniques before the class, the one-on-one instruction and critique of my form from a man that has practiced the art of barefoot running over the last decade was invaluable. An unexpected and pleasant side effect of the lesson is increased speed, so sign up now!

Introduction: Direct, Straightforward and understandable
My wife and I were very pleased with the introduction session. It was structured well and gives enough focus on the critical points and avoids overwhelming with too much or complex detail. the excercises were very helpful and we left with confidence that we will do well in running barefoot.

Excellent Introduction to Barefoot Running
This is a sweet class and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try running barefoot. Ted was very encouraging and now barefoot running is a lot less intimidating than before. I feel inspired to ditch the footwear and go running barefoot from now on

All the tools you need to get started
Ted gave me the perfect introductory lesson in barefoot running. Although he had a lot of information to share -- all of it interesting and worthwhile -- he was very careful to leave me with concrete takeaways that I can apply to assess and improve my running going forward. And he didn't push at all for a follow-up or more lessons. Excellent, highly recommended for anyone who walks or runs.

Barefoot in the Park
Ted reminds me of the teacher who always had a gleem in his eye as he brought a new experience to the class each day. He was full of energy for the entire session and you can tell that he was just itching to share more information with you. Honestly, I would have liked to have spent much more time with Ted. That said, the single session was just perfect because he boiled things down to three key concepts. Now I have a place to start over.

Totally worth it
I set up the class with Ted as a pre-cursor to ever running barefoot in hopes of getting some tips to help prevent injury during the transition to Barefooting... Ted was extremely helpful. I would recommend reading Born to Run prior to the class as it helps generate conversation and get through some of the super basics. The exercises and tips that Ted provided are great for everyone... and I'm really looking forward to his upcoming movement classes.

A great first lesson
The rag-tag group of ours really enjoyed our first lesson with BF Ted. I highly recommend reading Born to Run before taking the class. We did, and it allowed us to jump right into the lesson without going over why running barefoot is important. Ted was also very accommodating and even put up with us bringing a 1.5 year old to the class.

Well Worth It
The specific exercises taught and the ideas shared can be applied to all runners - not just die hard barefooters. Anyone interested in running longer, more efficiently and injury-free could benefit from this session. It was a great to run side-by-side with Ted, to pick his brain, and to have my form assessed and critiqued by such an authority. I'm beginning to understand that barefoot running is not simply running without shoes, but a new (or perhaps renewed) way of understanding our bodies.

Running Barefoot is Awesome!!
A buddy from work informed me about the benefits of barefoot running and Ted's website. I used Ted's website for research and proper technique, and I started running barefoot and loved it. The one on one lesson with Ted was very informative, and gave me confidence to continue in this new adventure. Ted is a wealth of knowledge on the subject, and his true passion for running really shows during the exercises.

Informative and fun!
I learned so much more about my own feet! We went through basic exercises to understand walking and running lightly on our feet, exercises to increase springiness, and running exercises to help with form and cadence. Great session that really answered a lot of my own personal questions about minimal running. I want to go again!

An inspiration
Ted is really on to something here - and the bare feet are just the beginning. A guy who runs with the Raramuri, runs Leadville and then coaches a few days later, swims four miles, held a skateboarding world record, rides a high wheel bike, and more - well, he has a lot to offer. I had a tough time deciding if I should restrict my chatter only to running. Ultimately, we stuck mostly with running - and Ted has unwittingly helped eliminate back pain and he has renewed my passion for the sport.

Absolutely Amazing
Ted's motto of " One foot at a time. One sole at a time. One hell of a good time." is exactly what I had. Ted had me take my shoes off while he watched and listened to me run. He explained to me how the noise I was making was wasted energy. We ran over smooth concrete, concrete with smooth stones, asphalt, dirt, grass, metal deck and crushed stone. Ted then showed me an exercise that would help me to plant my feet quietly and improve my balance. The evaluation and coaching were outstandi

Barefoot Running
I was looking into barefoot running on the internet and found Ted’s blog. I scheduled a training session with him to learn how to run barefoot and he was fabulous! We met at Volunteer Park where he taught me how to run in Vibram Five Fingers and I even went completely barefoot. In one hour with Ted, I learned how to correct over-pronation in my running gait (haven't been able to do this in 6 months of physical therapy) and how to run without pain! Can't wait for my next session!
